Managed to open a bank account with kasikorn in pathum thani today .Fairly straightforward process tbh .First lady wanted house book for uk and marriage visa .Luckily my Thai wife was with me and we managed to explain that neither was possible. After that breakthrough it was pretty easy process ps I’m on non o visa and IO told me to use notice of receipt for tm 30 no need for a COR

Breakthrough?

With a Non O that in most cases would bypass need for COR.

Bank may ask for lease or TM30 to indicate address.

I was referring mainly that the lady asked to see my marriage visa which of course I won’t have until I get bank account etc .Also my house documents from uk but not every faring will still own a house

Luckily a more experienced lady was able to show her that these weren’t necessary

I'm on a Non-Imm O and was able to open a Fixed Deposit account wiht Bangkok Bank in Jomtien without a COR as I already had an account with them but needed a COR when opening a Kasikorn account in Central Festival, Pattaya.

You stated that you had a Non O.

"ps I’m on non o visa"

That would be a Non O eVisa obtaied from outside of Thailand and enable you to open thai bank account.

We know that but the lady in bank obviously didn’t so I was able to correct her

Locations vary obviously, but Buriram advised a friend to change from Bangkok bank because they will not accept financial evidence from them next year.

Wow that would cause carnage as there must be loads of Non-IMM O holders who use Bangkok Bank 😳

Please don’t let me cause anyone to panic. This was hearsay, albeit from a reliable source, and it was one rural office.

It is, in any event, sensible to have more than one bank account - recent Shenanigans with Bangkok bank make that even more relevant.

You're already on the marriage visa.  The non-O VISA is based on marriage to Thai.
You'll never have another visa again, you'll only be on extensions from now on.  The visa is done, it was invalid as soon as it was used for entering Thailand.

I've had a Bangkok Bank account for a year and have had no problems with it however, as you say, I thought it would be a good idea to open a 2nd account. I opened a Kasikorn account on Monday.

Very sensible especially for those using money in bank method and do not keep funds in account all year round.

Obviously impacts marriage extension folk that only keep the 400k in bank for seasoning period.

Some even rely on use of those funds post application.

I wouldn't use that bank on principle

Kasikorn good alternative.
