A school excursion from Phetchabun was disrupted on 28 November when three double-decker buses collided in Saraburi, injuring 24 students and trapping one driver. Emergency responders rushed to the scene at Huai Bong intersection in Chalerm Phra Kiat district, where injured students were heard crying out. All casualties were quickly transported to Saraburi Hospital for treatment.

Police at Chalerm Phra Kiat station were alerted to the collision by Pol Sub Lt Thanarat Kamnoetdee and arrived with rescue volunteers from the Sawang Rattanatrai Thammasathan Foundation. They found that three excursion buses had collided in sequence, leaving damage and multiple injuries. Among the 24 students hurt were 10 girls and 14 boys, all of whom received immediate first aid at the scene.

Rescuers discovered that one bus driver was trapped in his vehicle after being crushed by the impact. Using hydraulic cutting equipment, emergency teams worked to free him before sending him to Saraburi Hospital as the 25th injured person. All three buses were found damaged in the crash area. CCTV shows that as the front two buses slowed and stopped, the third bus ran straight into the back of the middle bus, pushing it into the lead bus.

Teachers and students told officers that the group had travelled from Rahu School in Bueng Sam Phan district, Phetchabun and consisted of lower-secondary students. They said five buses had been travelling together en route to the Science Centre and Dream World, with plans to stop for lunch at Krua Baan Suan restaurant before the collision occurred. School staff expressed relief that no fatalities were reported.

Police have documented the crash site and gathered photographic evidence as part of the investigation. Officers also took the bus drivers to Chalerm Phra Kiat Police Station for questioning, with the injured driver being questioned after recovering from his injuries. Legal proceedings will continue once statements and technical assessments of the vehicles are complete.

Watch the video. There was plenty of room to stop safely. The third bus didn't slow down. Either; the brakes failed or driver was not paying attention.  I go with the driver watching his phone or having a nice chinwag with someone.  Fortunately, the vehicle speed was not high.

Almost every day, government, get off your lazy backsides and start taking stricter action, starting with a tachograph.

and ban mobile phones behind the wheel.....Oh, it had been years.

Boats capsizing...    Busses rolling down ravines....  Trucks with brake failure...

... School kids dyeing and getting injured in wholly preventable bus crashes...

We see the headlines, we see the outrage, we see the announcements and crack-downs - then we see nothing change at all.

Authorities are to blame for their overwhelming apathy and complete lack of action when it comes to these issues....

Don't tempt fate...    he'll be doing that with a bus full of people next...
