Is this plug still safe after powerpoint socket blowout?

Featured Replies

As I plugged in a security camera, I had a powerpoint socket blowout where there was a loud "boom" sound together with a spark, which burnt the outer section of the socket and also the plug of the security camera. The spark that was caused, I'm not sure if it actually came from the socket or from the front of the camera itself. I really have no idea what would have caused this, as I plugged in the camera. Could it have been a fault in the socket?

Technician came, tested the socket and replaced a new one, and tested it again. Now it has been working fine. However, I have not attempted to connect the same plug that has been "burnt" or the same camera. Would it be safe to plug it back in, or would there be any issues? Anyone here an electrician or a retired electrician? Should the camera and plug be thrown away?

I had the same thing happen   it was an exploding capacitor in the power adaptor ...the wall socket will be fine just wipe with a damp cloth.

You certainly need a new power adaptor,  the camera may have survived probably 90 percent chance it survived.
