Police Region 7 have detained a 32-year-old amulet trader after a shooting at the popular “Lung Toy Hoi Kha” restaurant and concert venue in Nakhon Chai Si left two people dead and three injured, causing panic among more than 150 attendees. Officers arrested the suspect, Jirathiwat Wiriyaworakun, the son of a village headman in Don Tum, within hours of the attack, recovering a 9mm automatic handgun and a white four-door Isuzu D-Max pick-up truck. The incident unfolded shortly after midnight on 5 December, prompting an urgent police response and swift manhunt.

Authorities said the shooting occurred at Moo 1, Wat Lamud, where the restaurant was hosting the “Lung Toy Hoi Kha Camp” concert featuring two music acts. The event drew a large crowd of young people and workers who purchased 200-baht tickets to watch the performances. After the final act ended, two groups of around a dozen youths began arguing, escalating into a fistfight as staff dismantled sound equipment.

Witnesses reported that amid the commotion a man wearing a brown shirt walked to within roughly 10 metres of the altercation. He shouted, “Who hurt my brother?” before firing multiple shots into the group, causing several people to collapse and sending others fleeing in panic. Police later confirmed that five people were hit by gunfire, including two who later died in hospital.

The deceased were named as Thanes Sinterattana, 43, who died en route to Nakhon Pathom Hospital and Sarawut Suanlong, 31, who died at Huai Phlu Hospital. The injured were identified as Thanakrit Songubon, 32; Kesinee Kloisawat, 27; and Phakphong Kloisawat, 25. Officers traced the suspect and arrested him before dawn, presenting him alongside seized evidence at Regional Police Division 7 later the same day.

Manager online reported that during questioning, Jirathiwat reportedly admitted carrying out the shooting, claiming he acted out of anger after seeing a close younger acquaintance apparently being assaulted. Police have charged him with multiple offences, including murder, attempted murder, possession of a firearm in a public place without permission and discharging a weapon in public. Officers said the case will proceed under full legal process.
