A Royal Thai Navy petty officer was found dead inside his parked pickup truck in Sattahip on 6 December, after he had been missing for over three days. Police and rescue workers discovered the 37-year-old, identified as Petty Officer First Class Araya, seated against the driver’s seat holding a lighter, with a burnt-out charcoal stove beside him. Officers confirmed there were no signs of struggle and the immediate scene indicated he had died for several days.

The Toyota Vigo pickup was located behind the King Rama VI monument in Sattahip subdistrict, where it had reportedly been parked since 3 December. His wife told officers that he had been distressed due to debts and gambling issues and the couple had argued shortly before he disappeared. She finally tracked the GPS location of his truck to the site.

A local motorcycle taxi driver reported seeing the vehicle since 3 December, initially with the engine running and later noticed it had been switched off or stopped by 4 December. He said he did not suspect anything at first because the windows were closed and nothing appeared unusual from outside the vehicle. Relatives helped identify him after arriving at the location following the wife’s request.

Police investigator Pol Lt Nawathorn Phuwasettaworn said relatives had informed officers about the petty officer’s financial stress and personal difficulties. Police have recorded the scene and taken the wife for further questioning to establish a full timeline of the events leading up to his death. The body has been sent to Queen Sirikit Hospital for a detailed autopsy to determine the precise cause.

Authorities stated that no evidence of foul play has been found so far but said the case remains open pending autopsy results. Khaosod reported that the body will be released to the family for religious rites once examinations are complete. The incident has raised concerns about the pressures faced by service personnel dealing with debt-related stress.

The North Eastern comedian Little Bobby Thompson ,had the right attitude , " Let them that's owed worry",

Killing yourself over debt is extreme , things could have worked out for him, maybe if

you had a very serious illness ,broken heart ,maybe , but not for debt. RIP  you made

the wrong choice.

You've got to look at why he incurred the debt and work from there. The man was a gambling addict and debt was only a symptom.

How many times had he put his family's back up against the wall? How many times did he have to look his wife in the eyes and tell her that he'd blown his pay and there is no money left for bills....again?  What does one do when they realize that they'll never get over the addiction and will bring lifelong suffering and despair on the people they love?  The man did this to himself because he saw no other way to stop the pain and humiliation.
