The government is preparing to approve the second phase of the Khon La Khrueng Plus scheme, which will provide 2,000 baht to 10 million eligible recipients, with spending expected to begin in January 2026. The initiative aims to maintain economic momentum into the new year. According to government spokesperson Siripong Angkasakulkiat on 9 December 2025, the Ministry of Finance will submit the proposal to the Cabinet next week.

 

The renewed scheme follows the earlier rollout of Khon La Khrueng Plus Phase 1, which offered 33 million entitlements. This second phase is designed to reach both new and previously missed participants. Registration is expected to open in late December 2025, pending Cabinet approval.

 

Of the total entitlements, 5 million will be allocated to people who have never joined the programme, while the remaining 5 million will be reserved for those who participated previously but did not receive benefits in the first phase. Funding is expected to come from the government’s central emergency and essential reserve budget. The government estimates 22 billion baht will be required, with more than 40 billion baht still available after accounting for flood relief allocations.

 

Eligibility criteria will remain consistent with existing Ministry of Finance regulations. Applicants must be Thai nationals aged 16 or older at the time of registration and must hold a valid national ID card. They must not hold a state welfare card as of 1 October 2025 and must not have been suspended or required to repay funds under any previous Khon La Khrueng phases.

 

Officials say the scheme is intended to support household spending and local businesses during a period of economic uncertainty. Analysts note that the distribution of 2,000 baht per person may help stimulate short-term consumption. The phased allocation aims to ensure fair access for both new applicants and those who were excluded earlier.

 

Khoasod reported that further details on the exact registration date will be confirmed following the Cabinet meeting. Once approved, the scheme is expected to launch rapidly to enable spending from January 2026 as planned. Authorities have stated that updates will be provided as soon as the registration schedule is finalised.

I do not know on that one , my wife gets it, this is the second phase, the first phase was under the military government, this government realized without saying, the Thai economy is not good, and they are helping out.
