Reentry from Japan on valid retirement visa

Featured Replies

Good morning ,  I just reentered Thailand from visiting Japan on a valid retirement visa, My 90 day reporting date was December 30th.  My gf is saying that I have to report to local immigration within 24 hours of reentry.  The immigration office is 2 hours away  . Anyone know my legal responsibility?  TIA

The owner of where you are staying is legally required to report the arrival of a foreigner within 24 hours.  This is the TM30.

The 90-day report is the TM47, and it's only when you are in Thailand for 90 consecutive days.  Since you left and returned,  you broke the consecutive day count, so you starting counting over again at day 1 from the day you arrived back in Thailand.

That report date Dec 30 is now irrelevant.

What date did you reenter Thailand.

She is referring to TM30.

Which immigration office.

If returning to your usual address then TM30 should not be necessary.

You state that you have a "retirement visa" assume you mean 12 month extension + a reentry permit.

Your next TM47 (90 Day report) will need to be done in person or via mail.

What do you mean by "report"

A TM30?

Which immigration office.

Your TM47 isn't due till 89 days after entry

I drove to immigration office and presented my passport.  I was given a paper that says  "receipt of notification"    i am required to report back again on March 10th . Immigration office   is Phitsanulok.

You were given your next due date for 90 day report.

That date was your entry date + 89 days.

Note you do not need to return on March 10.

Your report in person window opens 15 days prior to due date and up to week after report date for in person report.

You would also be able to do the report via mail option.

In that case post the report (TM47) 15 days prior to March 10.

You cannot do it online.

Apparently that was too much for Thai IT

The TM30 can be done online if the person who is registered on the House Book (Tabien Baan) registers online with immigration to do so. Our Thai niece does ours as she is on the book, I have a yellow housebook and I used that to do the TM30 myself for years, but last time the IO told me that's not acceptable, the residence has to be registered to a Thai and the TM30 has to be done by them. That doesn't seem correct to me but oh well.
