A night-time fire tore through a two-storey wooden house in Nakhon Sawan, killing a four-year-old boy and forcing six other family members to flee in panic. The blaze erupted in the early hours of 12 December, prompting officers from Bang Muang Police Station to alert fire crews from Bueng Senat SAO and Bang Muang SAO, who battled intense flames that engulfed the property. By the time the fire was brought under control, the child was found dead inside the burnt-out ground-floor room where he had been sleeping alone.

The house, located in Moo 8, Ban Don Du, Bang Muang Subdistrict, was quickly consumed due to its wooden structure, causing rapid fire spread. Family members, who had been resting on the second floor, were awakened by the child’s cries and attempted to rescue him but were driven back by flames that had already taken hold of the lower storey. All possessions inside the house were destroyed, and investigators are now examining the cause of the fire.

According to Bang Muang subdistrict headman Tinnakorn Munsap, everyone present at the scene assisted to their fullest ability as soon as the alarm was raised. He expressed his condolences to the family and confirmed that all other occupants were on the upper floor at the time of the incident. He said the rapid spread made it impossible for anyone to reach the four-year-old in time.

Nakhon Sawan Governor Chutiphon Sechang visited the affected family, accompanied by provincial officials who delivered essential consumer items and moral support. The homeowner, 60-year-old grandmother Pamas, remained distraught after losing her grandson and described the fire as spreading too rapidly for anyone to act. She said the wooden structure left the family powerless as the flames overtook the house.

Khoasod reported that the governor expressed deep sorrow for the loss and thanked all agencies involved in assisting the victims, noting that the province prioritises support for residents affected by disasters. He emphasised the importance of providing both practical and emotional aid for the family following the tragedy. Authorities continue their inquiry into the cause of the blaze and will maintain support measures for the household.
