What’s with the Tuk-tuks in the city today?

Featured Replies

Traffic jams all around the Moat, caused by Tuk-tuks driving verrrry slooowly in between the two lanes of traffic, blocking both lanes to the cars behind them. On the bike, moving to the front and expecting road construction, I was surprised to see the Tuk-tuk causing it all.
I experienced this three times, with three different Tuk-tuk drivers causing tie-ups the same way. (Glad I’m on the bike!)

Is there some sort of Protest going on today?

Just another day in Chiang Mai.

More tourists in town now, so maybe they think it is worth while to cruise around looking for fares instead of sitting in one place.

It wasn't the cruising that I was speaking of, but cruising while blocking all car traffic in both lanes behind them. Three different drivers doing it that 'I' saw. I don't know if others were doing it in various locations. But they were definitely blocking traffic around the Moat on purpose. When a car tried to make an end run around them, they moved over a bit so the car driver changed his mind about trying to pass.

The city is not planned for cars, but for buffaloes with carts
