A senior Thai police general, Police Major General Thanananwich Sriboonruang, was found dead in his car outside a private residence in Nakhon Sawan on December 15, initiating a police investigation. Authorities from Mueang Nakhon Sawan Police Station responded to the scene at a two-storey luxury home in the district, where the deceased was discovered inside a sedan parked out front. The immediate area was cordoned off to allow only family access, keeping media and unauthorized individuals away.

Thanananwich resided at the location with his wife and relatives. Police Colonel Somchai Chankhong noted that the case does not seem complex at first glance, yet investigators are conducting a comprehensive examination. Relatives have mentioned that Thanananwich had an underlying medical condition, yet police emphasize this is a preliminary assumption pending further inquiry.

An associate, involved in the officer’s care, disclosed that Thanananwich had been undergoing treatment for depression for several years. They suspect his mental health condition could be relevant, although the police have not officially confirmed this link. Thanananwich’s career included a recent promotion in October, having previously served as deputy commander of Nakhon Sawan Provincial Police before his transfer to Uthai Thani as provincial police commander.

The investigation is ongoing, with investigators collecting evidence to ascertain the official cause of death. Authorities plan to conduct in-depth interviews with close contacts of Thanananwich to gain more clarity on the circumstances surrounding his demise, reported The Thaiger.
