Tourist visa and how many visa exemption?

Featured Replies

With these endless new rules, if you come back to Thailand by air with a tourist e-visa, should you be able to do 2 land border crossing in a calendar year to get 60 days exemption stamps?🤔

- it's recommended to bring 20k bath cash at this time if you are coming with a tourist e-visa or is still rarely ask if you come with a visa?

You're asking the question no one can answer. It will come down to the officer you're standing in front of at passport control when you're stamping back in free stamp (60 day visa exempt) after already being in country 60 or 90 days on your tourist eVisa (w/an extension).

If they think you're trying to live here on free stamps they can deny you entry.

Even though it appears that the "count resets" Jan 1 I sure wouldn't bank on being able to border bounce two times by land.

if you wanna spend 6 months here why not just buy the 6 month METV from the thai consulate in your country before you come here rather than the SETV?

Yes, I'm also considering the 6 month METV

It's recommended to use the safe entry service if you come back with a tourist e-visa? Does it make sense or not really? Just to avoid possible issues

You have mentioned all these options eg SETV, METV, DTV, Safe entry etc ... in other threads.

Your history is extensive and yet as per this thread keep with the "what are my chances" questions.

Using what you outlined in this thread SETV + Two border runs to obtain total stay of 180 days it's Russian Roulette.

Look into METV.

However, I have never had a problem when I entered Thailand with a tourist e-visa. And I've never been asked to show 20000 bath cash. I think there is no need to use the safe entry if you are coming back to Thailand with a tourist visa granted from the embassy

Even with a TV you're still entering as a tourist and the number of entries and total days stayed will still be limited.

Many people have never had any issues. Then one of two things may happen.

I've entered Thailand only 2 times on 2025. The first time with a tourist e-visa and the second time with a border run 60 days exemption stamp. I don't think I've a long history of staying. There are people that are even doing more than 3 border bounce. Me only one on 2025. I don't see what's the reason to have issues to return to Thailand with another tourist e-visa after I've been out of the country since 2/3 months

Great then obtain a SETV and roll the dice..

Onward flight and 20k would be advisable in current climate.

I always suggest have a clear itinerary.

Doesn't need to be factual but can be used to show tourism plans

Yes, you answered your own question - for those of us here for any length of time, we have learned now to avoid any possible negative immigration stories.  Though some immigration offices and their officers might respond differently to any situation at any time.
