A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Songkran Panpu, a 37-year-old man from Chon Buri, following a fatal shooting on a Bangkok expressway early Tuesday. The incident left a 34-year-old motorist dead after a suspected road rage altercation near the Pracha Chuen toll plaza. Police are charging Songkran with murder, attempted murder, and illegal firearm possession.

The shooting occurred at around 4:50 am on the expressway in the Bang Sue district, soon after a brief encounter between the vehicles. Authorities discovered the suspect's Toyota Vellfire van at a hotel in Nakhon Pathom, where it was seized and taken for examination. Fake license plates were found on the van, attached with adhesive tape.

In a bid to track the suspect, police have identified and spoken with a taxi driver who picked up Songkran after the incident. The driver reported that for 2,500 baht, he drove Songkran towards Ban Bueng district in Chon Buri, with the fare paid by a friend of Songkran's. The suspect is believed to be heading towards Trat province near the Cambodian border, reported Bangkok Post.

Key Takeaways

  • Suspect Songkran Panpu is wanted for murder and firearm charges.
  • The shooting followed a brief road rage incident on a Bangkok expressway.
  • Police are actively pursuing the suspect, believed to be heading towards Trat province.

  • Pretty good reason not to lose ones cool on the roads here…..so many lunatics behind the wheel!

  • When we moved here, my wife told me: never honk, never argue, let them pass you, don't block them, just let them go, you are retired and you have time, just calm down. She also said some of them

  • You'd have to be a special kind of idiot to shoot someone where there's a 99% chance you'll be on CCTV doing it.   On a camera that's specifically designed to get your plate number, no less.

Can you explain?

I doubt he can.  Most likely someone who has never lived here and knows no Thai people, but believes everything he reads.

I call it small egos.  In the Philippines, people often honk their horns.

You should go to India?  The horn is tied to the gas pedal!😅

Don't look like road rage there's more to this story  for sure something happened before the car got cut off .

Yes, my Thai friend told me the same thing more than 25 years ago, and not just on the road, but sometimes it remains difficult to control yourself.
Today, there was another tour bus that kept driving in the right lane for miles after I had overtaken it on the left, and I wasn't the only one, I couldn't resist rolling down my window and pointing my thumb down.

Yeah, I know I have been tempted to do similar things sometimes, and maybe,  I say maybe, it has happened when I'm alone in the car.. 🤫😁

When rage occurs, common sense often takes a back seat...

Thai's lack any form of common sense, especially when driving.
