CNN has announced it will set up a live studio at Bangkok’s IconSiam complex to broadcast the 2025 New Year celebrations live. The coverage will include the New Year's countdown and will be accessible to viewers worldwide via CNN's television and digital platforms. This marks the first time CNN is establishing a dedicated live broadcast studio in Thailand for this event.

The decision to choose IconSiam, located along Bangkok's Chao Phraya River, highlights the city's growing significance in global festivities. CNN's anchors Kristie Lu Stout and Will Ripley will host the program, providing comprehensive coverage of the celebrations. This setup places Bangkok alongside other major cities like New York, Abu Dhabi, London, Tokyo, and Sydney in CNN's suite of live New Year's Eve broadcasts.

Experts note that this move could boost Bangkok’s profile as a major destination for international events. The selection of Bangkok signifies its increasing prominence in the global arena, potentially attracting more tourists and investments. The broadcast is expected to showcase Thai culture and tourism, benefiting the local economy.

Looking forward, Bangkok’s role in CNN's global New Year’s Eve coverage might pave the way for more international events being hosted in the city. The successful execution of this event could lead to future collaborations between international media and Thai venues. Preparations for the broadcast are underway, with expectations high for a seamless production that captures the spirit of the occasion, reported Khaosod.

Key Takeaways

  • CNN to host its live NYE broadcast from Bangkok's IconSiam.
  • Bangkok joins global cities like New York and Sydney for CNN's NYE coverage.
  • The event may enhance Bangkok’s reputation as a global event hub.

A global event hub ...

Sounds like something you'ld find in a garage.

I miss the old CNN, where they'd set up live studios to cover actual news.

Like that kerfuffle on the Cambodia border...

A possible reason to watch CNN for, in my case, the first time in over 30 years.

Crossed off CentralWorld, now I can cross off IconSiam! Maybe take a brief look on YouTube. After the real New Year in...Times Square.

Why ... the fireworks along the river are spectacular, especially at ICONSIAM.  I popped down to watch a few times.  Time Square can't even come close.

Fireworks @ CentralWorld were some of the worse that I've viewed, if thinking to, don't bother,  And we stayed right across the street, primo viewing spot.   They sucked.

Now the riverside hotels are just too silly priced, and the congestion is maddening, even if just walking a block or two to the river.

I'll just wait till available on YT this yeaar.  If daughter didn't rent out her condo, that would be primo viewing.
