A passenger bus crashed into the rear of a 10-wheel lorry in Phetchaburi province on 26 December 2025, leaving more than 10 people injured and causing major traffic disruption on the main Phetkasem Road into Bangkok. One passenger was seriously hurt after being thrown through a window and onto the road surface during the impact. Emergency services were deployed rapidly as the scene became chaotic and a secondary multi-vehicle collision followed shortly afterwards.

Police said the crash occurred at about 05:30 on the inbound lanes of Phetkasem Road at kilometre marker 162+425 in Tambon Tham Rong, Ban Lat district. The Provincial Police emergency centre received reports of a bus slamming into the back of a sand-laden lorry, prompting coordination with Maharaj Phetcharat Hospital, Bangkok Hospital Phetchaburi and the Sawang Sanphet Thammasathan rescue foundation. Rescuers worked to treat and transport the injured to nearby hospitals as quickly as possible.

At the scene, the blue-and-white tour bus registered in Bangkok was found with its front end heavily damaged. 10 passengers were injured, including one who suffered severe injuries after being ejected through shattered glass. Police arranged for the bus company to send a replacement vehicle to transfer uninjured passengers and those not requiring hospital treatment so they could continue their journey.

Further on, a 10-wheel lorry registered in Chumphon was discovered overturned at the roadside with sandbags spilled from its cargo. The driver, identified as Mr Nik, 54, sustained only minor injuries and told police he had been travelling from the South towards Bangkok when the bus struck the rear of his vehicle at speed, causing it to lose control and roll over.

The initial crash led to a secondary pile-up involving three additional 10-wheel lorries, two cars and a state-operated intercity minibus. These vehicles collided roughly 100 metres before the primary impact site, creating a long traffic tailback stretching several kilometres. Traffic police were forced to divert vehicles onto parallel service roads while crews cleared debris and wreckage.

For the second time, today!

Unfortunately, Thailand is full of drivers like this,
with absolutely no sense of responsibility.

or more interested in his phone than driving the bus

I am not surprised.. I see many busses drive like crazy.... It is known that many trucks and bus drivers are not driving natural, but with a lack of checking they can do as they want and play with the lives of their passengers... Maybe time to take some action and hold drivers personal responsible for accidents

If only the courts would do their job.
