Police have arrested a former model and ex-paramilitary ranger who had been evading a court warrant while allegedly continuing to illegally log protected forest land and sell timber online, authorities said on 26 December 2025. The suspect was taken into custody at his home in Phetchaburi province following an undercover operation by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), ending a period of flight from justice.

The arrest was carried out by officers from the Natural Resources and Environmental Crime Suppression Division under the CIB. The suspect, identified as Mr Kossakorn, also known as “Willy”, aged 32, is a Thai–German national and a former model and former ranger. He was wanted under an arrest warrant issued by Phetchaburi Provincial Court, warrant number 361/2568 dated 21 August 2025, after failing to appear to hear an appeal court verdict in a forest encroachment case.

According to investigators, police learned that Willy had not only absconded from the judicial process but was also allegedly continuing to cut restricted timber from forest areas. The timber was then posted for sale through online platforms, raising concerns about ongoing environmental damage and illegal trade while he was on the run from the law.

Officers from the division devised an undercover sting operation by posing as buyers interested in purchasing timber. Contact was made with the suspect, who agreed to meet at his residence in Yang Nam Klat Nuea subdistrict, Nong Ya Plong district, Phetchaburi, to show the wood. When officers arrived at the agreed location, they presented the arrest warrant and detained him without incident.

During initial questioning, the suspect admitted that he was the person named in the warrant and confirmed that he had never previously been arrested in connection with it. He told police that past involvement with drugs had led to major changes in his life, leaving him unemployed and without stable income, which he claimed motivated him to illegally cut and sell timber while hiding from authorities.

Police formally charged him under multiple laws, including the Forest Act of 1941, the National Reserved Forest Act of 1964, the National Parks Act of 2019, and the Chainsaw Act of 2002. He was subsequently transferred to Phetchaburi Provincial Court for further legal proceedings.

Thaitabloid reported that authorities also issued a warning to the public that buying timber through social media carries high legal risks. Timber without proper documentation proving its lawful origin may expose buyers to offences related to receiving stolen goods or violating forestry laws, while possession of an unlicensed chainsaw is also illegal under Thai law.
