A 53-year-old man has died after being stabbed by a 16-year-old boy following a dispute over the teenager’s behaviour near a temple in Bangkok. The attack occurred on the afternoon of December 27, leaving the victim critically injured before he later died in hospital despite emergency treatment.

Police said the incident took place at about 5.00pm on December 27 near Wat Boromniwas Ratchaworawihan on Rama VI Road, Rong Muang subdistrict, Pathum Wan district. Officers from Pathum Wan Police Station and rescue volunteers rushed to the scene after reports of a man seriously wounded by a knife. The injured man, later identified as Mr Kritsarat Ruamcharoen, 53, was found on the pavement with severe stab wounds.

According to police, Mr Kritsarat had been stabbed once in the left side of his torso and once under his left armpit, suffering a total of two wounds. Emergency responders administered first aid at the scene, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), and bleeding control. He was then rushed to Hua Chiew Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

Initial investigations found that the suspect, a 16-year-old boy, remained near the scene and waited to surrender to police. Officers took the teenager into custody without further incident. The knife used in the attack was seized as evidence.

During preliminary questioning, the juvenile suspect told police that he lived near Wat Boromniwas. He stated that he had been reprimanded by Mr Kritsarat over behaviour deemed inappropriate, which led to anger and dissatisfaction. The confrontation escalated, resulting in the teenager using a knife to attack the older man, causing fatal injuries.

Police said the case has caused concern among local residents, particularly due to the involvement of a juvenile offender and the fatal outcome of what began as a verbal warning. Authorities noted that the incident highlights ongoing challenges related to youth violence and conflict escalation in public spaces.

The suspect has been handed over to investigators at Pathum Wan Police Station to face legal proceedings under Thailand’s juvenile justice system. Police said the case will follow procedures specific to youth offenders, including further questioning, evidence review, and coordination with relevant child protection and justice agencies.

Daily News reported that investigators will continue to gather witness statements and forensic evidence to support the case. Legal proceedings will proceed in accordance with the law, while authorities have urged the public to resolve disputes peacefully and avoid resorting to violence.

Oh yes, the fragile Thai male ego at work again. It starts from adolescent  and carries well into their adult life.  Look at all the murders committed by the men in this country when things don't go their way.

Quick, somebody check if this young man was brought up by his parents OR handed off to the grandparents.

Gonna go with option B. 😞 What a sad waste of life.

Exactly like every other country.
