Belavia Airlines of Belarus is launching its first direct charter service between Minsk and Phuket, strengthening long-haul tourism links to Thailand from early 2026. The new route is scheduled to operate from 12 January to 27 March 2026 and is expected to support increased visitor arrivals to Phuket during the high season. The inaugural flight marks a significant expansion of direct air connectivity between Belarus and southern Thailand.

The first flight, BRU8603, is due to arrive at Phuket International Airport on 12 January 2026 at 12:25 PM. Subsequent flights will operate until the end of March. The route will be served by an Airbus A330-200 aircraft.

Phuket has continued to focus on rebuilding and diversifying its long-haul tourism markets following recent years of disruption to international travel. Charter services play an important role in supporting demand from markets where scheduled direct flights are limited or seasonal. The addition of a Belarus-Phuket connection reflects sustained interest from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) region in Thailand as a winter destination.

Belarusian travellers are known to favour extended winter holidays in Thailand, typically staying between 10 and 14 days. Many travel as families and prioritise beach destinations, high-end resorts, wellness tourism, spas, gastronomy and cultural experiences. These travel patterns are associated with relatively high per-capita spending, which contributes positively to the local tourism economy.

The launch of the Minsk–Phuket charter is also seen as an indicator of confidence from CIS tour operators in Phuket’s appeal and infrastructure. Direct flights reduce travel time and complexity for passengers, making the destination more accessible during the winter season. This can enhance Phuket’s competitiveness compared with other long-haul beach destinations.

The charter programme will continue through to 27 March 2026, covering most of the Northern Hemisphere winter period. If demand remains strong, similar seasonal services could be considered in future years. Tourism authorities and operators will monitor passenger loads and spending patterns to assess the longer-term impact of the route.

Key Takeaways

• Belavia will operate direct Minsk–Phuket charter flights from 12 January to 27 March 2026.

• Flights will run using an Airbus A330-200.

• The route supports high-spending winter tourism from Belarus to Phuket.
