A Chinese tourist has filed a police complaint in Pattaya after reporting the theft of an amount of cash from his resort room in the early hours of December 30, 2025. The incident prompted an immediate police response, with one suspect questioned and detained as officers continue efforts to locate a second individual believed to be involved.

The 43-year-old man told Pattaya City police that he lost 5,350 yuan, equivalent to about 24,000 baht, after inviting two ladyboys to his room at a resort in Pattaya. Police said the complaint was lodged at around 3:20 a.m. on December 30, shortly after the man discovered the money missing. Authorities confirmed the alleged theft occurred while the group was drinking together in the room.

According to police, the tourist said he had placed the cash on a table before later realising it had disappeared and that both ladyboys had left the room. He told officers that he subsequently spotted the pair walking along the beach, detained one of them and contacted police. Officers then took the suspect to Pattaya City Police Station for questioning.

One suspect, identified by police as Phanurat Akhana, aged 16, denied any involvement in the alleged theft during questioning. They told investigators that they had previously exchanged contact information with the tourist and agreed to meet him to drink together, negotiating a fee of 4,000 baht per person. Phanurat said the two later went outside to find food, at which point the man suddenly chased them and accused them of stealing his money.

Phanurat maintained they did not take the cash and said they was helping search for it when the confrontation occurred. Police said the suspect agreed to compensation under pressure but requested time to gather evidence to prove their innocence. Officers stated that the suspect is being held while they search for the second ladyboy, who they believe took the money, to face possible charges under the law.

Khoasod reported that investigators said the case remains under active investigation as they review statements and attempt to locate the second suspect. Police added that further legal steps will depend on the outcome of the inquiry and the evidence gathered.

His wife back in China will be proud of who she married when she reads about it in the papers.

Pattaya’s typical threesome scenario.

Or most of the money returned for a mediation fee?

"after inviting two ladyboys to his room at a resort in Pattaya."

For some strange reason, these kind of thefts, mostly seems to connected to ladyboys?

Indeed, I thought the 'legal' age was 18 in Thailand?

Yes. And still a risky business to have a Thai youth on the room under the age of 20 (full legal adulthood).

2 lady boys, one tourist, 24,000 in cash laying about in room.

I wonder what could go wrong

What a Bummer.
