The wife likes to watch a movie on Sunday night, she doesn't always have the patience for a series - I try and explain, that good movies don't seem to be made these days. I checked some top 10's and following her brief of "sheet gor dai" I downloaded Liam Neeson, in The Naked Gun - and yes, it made the cut, it was most definitely "sheet".

I have been watching Hide and Seek - The Chestnut Man 2 ,it's been a while since there was a good dark Scandinavian drama, it's well worth a watch and S02 of Beef

A series I can highly recommend is Apple TV's Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed, which was recommended by Stephen King on X, who claimed it was even better than Widow's Bay. I have to agree with him. A recently divorced single mother finds solace for her lonelliness in an online "camboy" service. He fakes his own kidnapping in order to scam her and when he turns up dead for real, she becomes the Number 1 suspect. Well acted all around, a tense and compulsively watchable thriller. (I haven't seen the ending yet so let's hope that doesn't spoil things). IMDB has it at 7.3 and Rotten Tomatoes at 93 perent.

I must say after all the hype about Widow's Bay, Half way through it it's maybe a 6.5. OK but nothing special. The magic mushroom episode is great. There are some funny moments but the don't make up for the rest of it.

Watched the first two episodes and enjoying it so far. Those who like British police / crime series will likely enjoy it.

Silo began season three on July 3 on Apple TV, so I'm watching that as they're released. It's OK.

Really ... OK, definitely out then. That's too silly woke for me. What were they thinking, as that has continually failed. Did they learn nothing from Toy Story.

She does not play a dude well, and ruined the really good TV series she was in, when it all became about her. Shame, since she was a talented actress, but now can't pass as either, male or female role.

I tried to peek at the Page scene from Odyssey on YT, and there are some funny spoofs out there now, actually a lot. That's some funny stuff. Got to be brutal for her to see, and almost feel sorry for her.

I watched the 1st 2 episodes of 'The Westies' last night. What a complete and unmitigated disaster/disappointment. Stock characters; stock situations and a bewildering mix of Italian Mafia/Irish Mafia with IRA connections. Not sure of the era but it mentions Vietnam being in the past. A waste of Welliver, whose name doesn't even appear in the cast list on IDMB.

If in the mood for a horror, this one was decent

There should be a IMDB or Rotten Tomatoes style wokeness rating system for movies and series, right? This way, we don’t have to independently draw our own conclusions or use our own brains to decide.

Sorry, could only stomach the first episode....had to abandon it at that point. I agree with your word "tense"....the drama seems to have no greater motive than keeping you tense and therefore ready for the next episode.

Yes, it accelerates. I mean, what do people want in a series? It has bogeyman serial killers, ancient curses, characters rising from the dead, drugged out party goers who almost end up commiting suicide, human sacrifices, not to mention those lovable New England personalities. Sometimes you just have to exert a little patience and appreciate the nuances.

You didn't give it a fair hearing. I kind of expected that the camboy sex and lgbtq stuff would turn some people off but it turns into a very complex murder mystery.

Learning of the sad news of the death of Sam Neil, I decided to watch a few of his movies (again) and last night I watched the sci-fi movie, "Event Horizon" and it's certainly different to other sci-fi movies, and I can recommend it if you want to watch something which is sci-fi and different.

Tonight I will also be watching another one of his movies called, "The Hunt for The Wilderpeople" and for those that haven't seen it, I can highly recommend it because it is SO KIWI and it does poke a bit of fun at Kiwis, but gently so and it all makes for a very good watch IMO.

I'm waiting for the absurdity to go full-cycle: Elliot Page plays a gay man in a romance movie, torrid love scenes etc, and wows the critics, wins every possible award, becomes the signature role of her his career.

In "Solomon and Sheba" (1959) Gina Lollobrigida played the queen of an African country. Not Black, not even Sicilian! 😀 (a little bit of intra-Italian humor there).
