The only series I have partly re-watched have been the "best of" "Only fools and Horses" and "The Thin Blue Line" as they still give me a chuckle even after seeing them a couple of times!

I watch quite a few things repeatedly, sometimes because I just like the movie/series, other times because I don’t remember it from the title or description.

One example of the latter is The Night Of, the strange title should have been a reminder but it wasn’t, the 8.4 IMDb rating attracted the most.

After a few minutes I realised I had already seen this but carried on and glad I did:

I Dream of Jeannie Season 1 with her also. She loves it but I need the other seasons on DVD. The Woman in Black. Masters of the Air. The Black Cat.

Why do you need them on DVD? It would take you a couple of hours to download a 'season'. You can then choose to convert them to another format if necessary.

If you don't want to wait a couple of hours, you can stream from any Internet connected device immediately. A 10Mbps connection will be more than adequate for those relatively low bitrate files.

I've posted a couple of test files to your Inbox.

Let's try to keep this a normal dialogue.

I have access to 5 series of I dream of Jeannie, DVD files + first season colourized. They are DVD9 x4 for each season .. It would be a total waste to download and then burn when there are bluray images and 1080 rips available on other sites. Even the 1080 are like 80-150GB each season.

I have a large DVD & Blueray collection, like the CD collection I also have. I'm old school and like having them. When we move back to Texas, I'll find the other seasons at Half Price Book Stores, a chain that sells books, dvd's, vinyl, cassettes and others. I have almost all of the movies I want besides new releases and some older ones, like a couple of the Twilight Zone series. They're pretty cheap used in good condition.

'online services' removing content from their servers for various reasons

if you didn't save a copy then its all but erased from history.

I have maybe 5-10 thousand DVD archived copies of movies in my office. (Not compressed files, 540P DVD files) Total waste of time and money.

At that time, I had a 720P TV and we would often watch DVDs. Now everything is hidef, and in this temperature, I guess that most of the discs will probably expire within the next 5-10 years.

Confusing...does he want to watch the programs or to collect 'originals'?

From all accounts, he burns his own CDs, so not understanding what difference does it make to download/stream to watch them now with his daughter, then to seek out the BluRay/DVD Video discs when possible.

@fredwiggy is it that you want 'originals' for a collection or simply a way to watch the seasons with your daughter whilst in Thailand?

True, as I like having the actual DVD's, along with CD's, burned and original, for a collection. When we move back, I'll just put them on a boat back to Texas like I did when I brought them here years ago.

the physical pressed DVD's will probably last for 100 years but maybe you could make a digital backup with something like MakeMKV https://www.makemkv.com/

this will ensure that there are no edits/censorship or deletions of the movies for future generations (if we survive WWIII !!! )

I doubt it .. these were cakes from Tesco 50 discs for 200B or something. They will have a lifespan of 2-5, 10 tops in this heat and humidity.

Ohh ok self 'burned' disks do have a much shorter lifespan..I have some that are destroyed by the DVD 'fungus' that eats the dye and or causes the reflective backing to disintegrate...shop bought pressed CD,VCD,DVD and Blueray should be much more resilient but still a good idea to rip them to a digital backup not least because its then much easier to watch/listen to them on multiple appliances that don't require a DVD drive.

I haven’t watched it but Ruth Jones in a serious role seems like a stretch.

I've just finished season 1 of The Dark and I enjoyed it. It was recommended by @gargamon earlier in this topic. Worth a look IMHO. It's on 1337x.

I watched the movie "300" (again) which I saw years ago, but it was worth the effort as I enjoyed it and the special effects were very good! Didn't realise then who Gerard Butler was, but then saw the movie "Law Abiding Citizen" with him in it and thought he was great.

One of my favourite movies. Must have watched it a dozen or more times. As you say, superb special effects.

Lots of '6 packs' on show. Unfortunately, I'm more of a '1 pack' these days (or a Watneys party 7 for those who remember beer in the UK in the 1970's).

And yes I do remember the Watneys Party sevens and the Party fours........took them to many parties in the day!!

GB is one of my favourite actors. I think 300 and Law Abiding Citizen are 2 out of 3 of his best efforts. The third is Rock'N'Rolla - a Guy Ritchie movie.

I thought I would give it a go and got as far as the second episode and decided that I wouldn't watch any more!

First of all I'm not keen on anything that is a religious cult and although it's only a program, the very thought of it makes me cringe, and in the second episode, the woman in the wheelchair is talking to her newfound man friend and it gets down to the "sex" aspect, whereby she says that she is paralysed from the waist downwards and "doesn't feel anything down there" as well as having to use a catheter!! Not just the dialogue presumably AI generated, but the unbelievably poor cast of what looks/sounds like some Am/Dram extras. Even the background shots of infirm pensioners shuffling about in their idyllic surroundings should stop all holidays in Benidorm for the foreseeable future.
