Health Insurance 2026.

Featured Replies

Just got a shock.

Received the invoice for my ACS insurance, which renews 1st January. It already went up 14% last year and was USD 5525. Now USD 6292 for 2026. I am 67 y.o.

This is becoming unaffordable so I am looking for an alternative insurance. Any advice or recommendations? I will be going to see a broker next week, but there might be other options used by members here that the broker doesn't have on their books.

TIA

I have used https://www.wrlife.net/ for 3 years now (via a broker), for myself and my family. No complaints but then I haven't had to make a claim. You'll find mixed opinions about them on the Forum, although they do advertise on it.

I took out a new policy with WRLife a couple of years ago at the age of 74. So you should not find yourself barred from obtaining one on age grounds. I was excluded from coverage for a number of pre-existing conditions for the first year, but all restrictions were then lifted without any further ado (i.e. no specific medical check-ups were first required on my part).

WRLife only increase premium payments in the event of a claim - and then only by 3% per claim. Like @brewsterbudgen I have not, thusfar, submitted a claim myself, but @bradiston included details of a positive personal experience in this regard a couple of years ago in the following thread:

Thanks OJAS. I was looking at their website today after an earlier poster mentioned them. I am seeing my broker tomorrow to see what he has to offer. He already emailed me that there are limited choices for over 65’s, so not holding out much hope.

I decided not to go with WRLife. Looking at their website, their pricing, although looks good, seems unsustainable to me.

no claims, no increase !

  • interest-free monthly payment.

  • 3% max renewal increase.

  • responsible approach for pre-existing conditions.

  • citizen, living abroad and travelers welcome.

  • enroll at any age, full life cover.

How can they limit any increases to 3%, when my one has gone up almost 25% in the last two years? It sounds a little dubious.

Options for me are very limited at age 67. In the end I decided to stick with ACS, but drop down to a more basic policy which limits hospital choice. Reduced my bill by over $2000.
