Retirement extension questions

Featured Replies

I am due to renew my retirement extension soon at CW non 'O'. Last year I renewed my extension in Chonburi having done the necessary formalities for address change from BKK to Pattaya etc..

Then for medical reasons I moved back to BKK. After moving I filed a change of address at CW to my place in BKK. This was accepted on line when I did my 90 day report.

So:

Is it correct that CW can now process my renewal?

Also the formalities for retirement extension at CW have not changed in the last few years. Correct?

Thank u in advance.

That is correct, if you filed a TM30 showing you're registered as living in Bangkok and you've been filing 90 day reports using your Bangkok address you use Chaengwattana.

Keep in mind with that 'out of province' previous extension they may ask you for 2 years of detail transaction reports.

They will want to see you didn't use an agent to bank the funds in that Chonburi extension and you met the requirements for the one before that as well.

Or at least those were the reports I've gotten from people who had out of province extensions the previous year when using Chaengwattana.

You need the 'standard bank letter' (the one that shows your name the account in the balance the day they wrote the letter), detail transaction report (they might ask for 2 years rather than just 1), and update your bank book the day you apply. Transaction report and Bank letter can be up to 7 days old.

Remember in Bangkok you can apply for an extension when you have 45 days or less left on your current stamp

Best of luck with it

Have you considered making an appointment. Try early each day as slots are very few.

Which bank do you use. Kasikorn has closed its branch at CW.

Which method for bank do you use.

Money in bank or income method.

CW accept Bank Letter and Bank Statements obtained prior to day of application.

An update of bank book is required.

I prefer to make a small deposit that acts as update and activity on day of application.

A lease would be useful however your TM30 should suffice.

May as well have your most recent TM47

All the print stalls are on level 1

I looked on line but appointments fully booked for January. So I guess I will go there and wait my turn.

Right?

Method: money in Bank. Bangkok Bank.

Many thx Tod your helpful reply. My Bank book shows a deposit of 800,000 in 2018 which was done by me at the Bangkok Bank head office in Silom and that account has remained untouched since that time. All transaction are interest and tax.

When I renewed in Chonburi last year i simply used the same account and bank book.

So my bank book shows a transaction report since the time of my initial 800k deposit.

Do you think that is sufficient?

I would obtain a 12 month bank statement.

I was once refused at CW (money in bann method) as I had two separate months of zero transactions.

BBL as you know requires ~ 3-5 days to provide statement.

BTW: appointments are added each 24 hours.

The window for appointments is up to 30 days in advance.

Depending on your expiry date you might be able to obtain an appointment.

=Yes i will consider that but as my deposit has remained untouched for several years and is only used for the 800k issue then surely a 12 month statement will be exactly the same as what is shown in the bank book?

Not necessarily 🙁
Still, get the 12 month detail transaction report printed
At bangkok bank you have to order it and it takes from 3 - 5 days so go order it, then when you pick it up get the bank letter written that day :)

Appts for retirement extensions book up FAST, you have to almost log in at midnight a MONTH before you want to actually go for your extension to get an appt booking

I used to do that until one year I met an Immi. officer who was not happy with that.

Although I had the Bank book pages copied out and the Bank letter and Statement , he wanted to see some action in the book , he suggested I update my book every month .

Things change from year to year , with some of the offices.
