A 45-year-old autistic woman was killed after being struck by a train in Ratchaburi province on the morning of 14 January 2026, prompting an immediate police and rescue response at the scene. The incident occurred beneath a railway overpass in Moo 5, Tha Rap subdistrict, Mueang Ratchaburi district, where emergency services confirmed the woman died at the location. Officers from Mueang Ratchaburi Police Station, forensic staff from Ratchaburi Hospital and the Prachanukul Foundation attended the scene.

Police identified the deceased only as Ms S., aged 45, an autistic patient, whose body was found approximately 20 metres from the railway track. She was discovered lying face down, wearing dark blue trousers and a brown patterned T-shirt, with one pink sandal found nearby. The train involved was service number 255 operating on the Chonburi–Lang Suan route.

According to preliminary enquiries, the victim had been walking with her 70-year-old mother, Mrs S., who was holding her daughter’s hand as they crossed the railway to eat on the opposite side. After they had crossed and as a train was approaching the area, Ms S. suddenly pulled her hand free and ran back towards the track. Her mother attempted to chase her and grab her clothing but was unable to hold on, as the loose T-shirt slipped from her grasp.

Police said the train struck Ms S. moments later, resulting in fatal injuries. The incident was reported at approximately 10.00 am to Pol Lt Sasit Chai Jitjamnong, the duty investigating officer at Mueang Ratchaburi Police Station, who led the initial investigation.

Authorities noted the challenges faced by families caring for individuals with autism, particularly in high-risk environments such as railway crossings. While no official commentary was issued at the scene, the incident underscored the need for continued vigilance and safety awareness around active rail lines. Rescue workers assisted with securing the area while forensic procedures were conducted.

Kaoded reported that following the initial examination, investigators arranged for the body to be transferred by foundation staff to the forensic department at Ratchaburi Hospital. After the examination is completed, the body will be released to relatives for funeral rites.
