They wouldn't be needed if the local police obeyed the law and co-operated with ICE. But by being absent, the local cops are making the situation worse. Instead of simply picking up a bad guy in jail, ICE agents are forced to go out into the city and look for him. Inefficient and potentiallly dangerous for all involved.

Plus the protesters are too stupid to know what is happening- are they protesting the arrest of an overstayer, or are they protesting the arrest of a paedo, as has happened.

Troops? When did the US government deploy the US military to Minnesota? The US government has redeployed immigration agents to enforce US immigration law. Isn't that what the US government is supposed to do, uphold the laws enacted by Congress?

How so? The 3000 federal agents are from multiple branches and are tasked with multiple functions. Some of the FBI, DEA, and ATF agents are targeting gang members and violent felons. There are 22,000 ICE agents in total in the USA and their agents will be dealing with direct immigration offences.
