Police have dismantled a family-led sextortion network accused of luring multiple middle-aged men into paying more than 8 million baht through threats linked to an underage girl. Three suspects, including a mother and stepfather, were arrested under court warrants issued by the Criminal Court on 12 January 2026.

The arrests were announced on 15 January 2026 by Pol Lt Gen Nattasak Chawanasai, Commissioner of the Central Investigation Bureau, alongside senior officers from the Anti-Human Trafficking Division. The suspects are Ms Chompoonuch, 36, Mr Boonrit, 57, and Mr Kannaret, 49, who face charges including participation in a criminal gang, extortion and money laundering.

The case began after four victims filed complaints with the Anti-Human Trafficking Division, stating they had been targeted through the OMI dating application. Police said Ms Chompoonuch contacted potential victims online, built trust through romantic conversations and arranged in-person meetings.

Investigators found that the group allegedly involved Ms Chompoonuch’s biological daughter, identified only as “Ms A”, aged 14, in the scheme. Police said meetings were arranged in several provinces, including Ang Thong, Sukhothai, Kanchanaburi, Phetchaburi and Bangkok, making the offences cross-jurisdictional.

According to Pol Col Korakiet Wutthijanong, after each encounter the mother would question the girl about whether sexual relations had occurred. If confirmed, Ms Chompoonuch and Mr Boonrit allegedly contacted the victim, telling them the girl was actually under 18 and demanded payments of up to 2 million baht to avoid criminal charges.

Police said the network assigned clear roles to increase pressure on victims. Mr Kannaret allegedly posed as a police superintendent from a station in Ayutthaya province, while Mr Boonrit claimed to be the girl’s biological father, despite being her stepfather.

Financial investigations showed the group extorted several victims and received more than 8 million baht in total. Authorities said the money was laundered through the purchase of gold, vehicles and land.

Searches were carried out at three locations in Kanchanaburi and Sing Buri provinces. Officers seized bankbooks, land title deeds, 40 gold necklaces with amulets, mobile phones and a shotgun, with seized assets valued at over 4 million baht.

Khoasod reported that all suspects denied the charges and were handed over to investigators from the Anti-Human Trafficking Division for further legal proceedings. Pol Lt Gen Nattasak warned the public to exercise caution when using social media and dating applications, noting that children and teenagers may be exploited in online crimes, including human trafficking.

Gross all round esp from the so called mother. A lot of merit making required if they’re Buddhists.

Seems like the girl was a victim too. Plus, the men they extorted were criminals too for having underage sex.

A complex case.

The "victims" should also be prosecuted.

The monster

The suspects are Ms Chompoonuch, 36, Mr Boonrit, 57, and Mr Kannaret, 49 should all be prosecuted with a level of ferocity that we rarely see here in Thailand. I would suggest for crimes of this nature either a life sentence, the death penalty, or life in a penal labor colony on some remote island.

No punishment would be too severe for absolute scum like these people.

I agree- and we can only hope that indeed a hard sentence is passed- BUT remember this is Thailand and money often talks louder than the truth or the law
