A viral video showing foreign tourists violently assaulting another foreign man on Bangla Road in Patong has sparked widespread concern over public safety in Phuket’s main nightlife area. The incident, which occurred late on the night of 25 January 2026, was filmed by bystanders and quickly circulated online the following day. The footage prompted criticism from residents and social media users, raising fresh questions about tourist behaviour and enforcement in the resort town.

The clip was posted on Facebook on 26 January 2026 by user Jeerawut Wangnurak and shows several foreign tourists surrounding a male foreign tourist in the middle of Bangla Road, Patong subdistrict, Kathu district. The attackers are seen repeatedly punching and kicking the man until he collapses on the ground. Even after he falls, the assault appears to continue, with kicks directed at his body and head while other people look on.

The violence only ends when other foreign tourists intervene, stepping in to pull the attackers away and break up the fight. Following the intervention, all those involved disperse from the scene. The exact cause of the altercation remains unclear and no official information has been released regarding injuries or arrests.

In his Facebook post, Jeerawut Wangnurak expressed anger and frustration over the incident. He wrote: “Did you come here to travel or to form gangs and cause trouble? People who genuinely come here to relax are now scared. All they see are thugs and troublemakers. No decent tourists will want to come here.” His comments reflected broader concerns about the impact of such incidents on Phuket’s reputation.

After the video spread, many social media users condemned the behaviour shown in the footage. Comments included phrases such as “Muay Thai again,” “Weak law enforcement,” and claims that this was “one of many cases where foreigners commit violence without facing prosecution.” Several English-language comments also criticised the attackers and called for stronger action.

Amarin reported that the incident has heightened anxiety among local residents, workers, and visitors in Patong, particularly regarding safety in crowded nightlife areas. Bangla Road is a central hub for tourism in Phuket and violent incidents there can quickly attract international attention. Authorities have not yet announced what steps, if any, will be taken in response to the video or whether an investigation is under way.
