I am in desperate need of a T-1000 online UPS…!!!

Featured Replies

Dear Folks,

Yeah, I know….this Topic might not be for the average pc user.

BUT…

I am now in desperate need.

So, I thought I would post it here, anyway, just in case there might be somebody here who can give me a few pointers, before I place my order, later this evening.

I need to protect my super-DUPER computer from the grid, at all costs.

Reason: I realize that, given the market situation, I have zero chance of buying another desktop IF the grid fries my DRAM or my MB.  You guys know what I’m talking about…RIGHT?

So, due to my limited budget, I have hit upon this CleanLine brand.

Sure, they produce camping tents, too….haha….but….

It seems that CLEANLINE is a respected brand for online UPS, as well….and I hope so.

I want to buy this unit:  The Cleanline T-1000 for about Bt.10,000.00, give or take a few baht.

Anyone have any good ideas about how to do this?

I worry about buying from an online store, sight unseen. Yet, I will, if I must.

=========

Years ago, I would have bought an APC machine, hands down, without question.

However, after the Americans sold APC to the Frenchies, it put me off, like a bad cut of meat.

So, this is why:  Now, I am pretty much set on buying the Cleanline Brand….(No frenchies involved in the process, I guess)

I have heard great things about the Cleanline UPS gizmos….

I have heard that I will have no problem connecting Cleanline output to my Linux machines.

And, the output for power history can be connected to the Linux box through a serial port, which I think is the best way to do things.

I see no downside to this brand.

And, I am wondering…is there any important point that I have not yet considered?

The motivation for this entire exercise is that I must protect my very expensive Linux box from the local power grid, at the cheapest cost, and the most effective and fool-proof way….not that I am a fool, by any means.

All comments and ideas welcome.

I am truly desperate….for this unit.

Even more desperate than that girl who was desperately seeking Susan…

You remember her…right?

Best regards,

Gamma

Note:  And, THANK YOU!!!!!

Note2:  Here is a great vid about the product Cleanline, which I think is very well respected for those in labs at unis who need clean SINE-WAVE power.

Note3:  Here is the vid which explains my allusion to the words…Desperately Seeking Susan.

Note4.  APC?  No way! Jose!!!!  I would never consider it.  APC lost me, years ago (I will buy either AMERICAN or Thailand, from now on in. No French, Please!!!).

Note5:  Clean SINEWAVE Power is TRULY next to GODLINESS…I always say….

She is DEFFO...My Kind of Girl....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will buy CLEANLINE, because, it is next to Godliness....

ESPECIALLY…if you can get it for the RIGHT PRICE….

======

What does the T-1000 look like?

IMHO, it is a true beauty, for sure....

It reminds me of true and GREAT no-holds-barred lab equipment you might see at Penn, for example....

Please note: I am already almost completely BROKE from buying the components for my most recent build.

This is not a joke.

I am almost broke.

Therefore, I must get a super price on this T-1000 beauty, please. If you might know how to do so....

Well: For that matter...what is the point of watching a Madonna video...?

I will tell you:

Check it out, because, I love it when Madonna dries her armpits on one of those hot-air machines we used to dry our hands, back in the day.

Madonna is just so very CREATIVE....

Also, who is NOT broke, these days....besides the guys pumping up AI????

One thing I really do wonder about...sometimes....

When guys here on TV think about serial ports....

Are they really thinking, mostly, about cereal ports???

I mean: How long has it been since YOU used a Cereal Port to connect your UPS to your Computer?

Hmmmm,

Is 1000VA sufficient ?

I mean, dont you need to count on this being needed at a bad time on a bad day ?

Think of all the stuff that you have hanging out of the system unit .......

What do you MEAN by a...BAD DAY?

Do you mean a bad: Spencer Tracy Day...???

At the moment, I am having a Bad Morning....

Trying to find the T-1000 at a deep discounted price...

Say, maybe for about Bt.11,000.00

If I can find it for that price, then I will buy.

Otherwise, I guess I will be unable to sleep this night, until I do find it...somewhere...

Maybe under a black rock, or maybe on Lazada, ...

But, it is NOT on Lazada for the price I want.

Anyway know where to get this online UPS for a decent price?

If only I were in the USA....today.....

I could get it for half the price.

Chili without Beans

All the same to me....

No.

This is really not the purpose of an online UPS.

The main function of a UPS of this nature is to isolate your electronics from the grid, especially the local grid...

As we all know it to be.

So, only an ONLINE ups will do, around these parts....

Dear Folks....

After about EIGHT-SOLID-HOURS of FRANTIC Searching....

I believe I have come up with both a....

a. Decent Price

b. Reliable Vendor

image.png

What do you guys think???

==================

Why am I so FRANTIC in my Search....???

Because....

One never knows when the local transformers of our grid will fail us....

Do we....!!!!

No, we do not.

If we use cheap desktop computers, then just let them fail.

But, just in case we might have paid much for a Linux desktop computer...

Then....

Having it ZAPPED by the Local Grid...

Is NOT an option.

And, speaking of ZAPPA.....BLACK.....

Is the grid dependable?

Oh....REALLY.....???

Have you heard the news....???

IF this were Tokyo, then...

One might get by without needing to pay so much for an online UPS.....

SOMEDAY....We don't know when or how....

We will get the grid right.

We will overcome.

The grid will work here, just as it does in Tokyo.

Don't know how.

Don't know when.

But, when this happens.....

We will all be able to save a lot of money......

Double the capacity, online - decent price and decent brand.

Thank you very much!

SERIOUSLY

I will check it out now.

I need to order...ASAP...this UPS

Although, I am not sure why others have recommended the T-1000, over the one you mention.

NOTE: One crucial requirement... I must have reliable reporting about power quality, etc., The T-1000 provides a serial port for power-data export. And, it can store up to 48 hours of electrical power data...which I need, as well.

I will compare these two units.

Tks, once again....

THANKS MAN....!!!

However:

After this thing arrives...

If I am, in ANY-WAY, dissatisfied with this unit....

I shall hold you FULLY ACCOUNTABLE.

(No. Just joking, Man....)

Thank you, once again.

This is the better unit, IMHO.

But, when I was 17, my unit was the best of all.

Or, so it seemed, to me, at the time.

Logically: One would be a fool to connect an expensive desktop to the local grid, without an online-UPS, these days.

And, these days, all computer components are simply exploding through the roof, price-wise....

My goal was to complete this purchase before 5:15am....local time.

DONE

NOTE2: I am sure, in days to come, I will much enjoy the 45dB sound pressure of this unit.

NOTE3: Thankfully, as you see by the specs...this fan is a variable speed fan. So, just another plus compared to the T-1000 unit....(Tks again.)

In my opinion:

THIS is what TV should always be about:

TV Forum Members helping TV Forum Members.

This day, I have very much benefited from the assistance I have received.

And, I am, for sure, duly grateful.

Hey Man....!!!

I just turned on this unit.

And, it sounds like an AirBus 380 taking off over my head, or...

At least one of those Boeing 777s that shakes my house, once in a while.

The 777s are thunderous, based on my experience, being below them.

No Worries:

STILL I am extremely grateful to you for your recommendation.

I am still very happy that I purchased this CYBER thingy.

And, there are several reasons why:

For one thing, it seems that this company actually CARES about writing good software to make their UPS play well with OPENSUSE, or SUSE leap, and they don't just slip a tarball to you, but actually go out of their way to make this easy.

This, in itself, is such a major plus, for me.

As expected, I have not yet turned on this unit.

I plugged it into the mains, and I am giving it about 8 hours to get fully charged, after delivery, before I turn it on.

My guess is that: Since I have not yet connected this unit to the computer, and since the unit is probably on max charge, being just delivered from the factory....I would guess that the FAN SPEED is now on MAX, which is probably about 55 dB, at 1.5 meters distance.

(Of course, if this noise does not abate soon after I have connected to my desktop, then I will need to drill a hole in my wall, and build a DOG-HOUSE, outside, to house this thing.) Otherwise, I could not put up with the noise, for long.

Alternatively, I could just put the UPS in a spare room, and then run some long power cable from the UPS to my computer room.

Whatever: I do not really care, because this is not a major issue, and not something that I cannot deal with, easily.

Also, the grid power delivery here is extremely unstable, and so...I need some unit like this, no matter what.

So, more importantly, I want to talk about just how nice this unit will be for me, using with my LEAP 16 computer:

image.png

image.png

image.png

And...DYNAMITE....great....:

image.png

At the moment, I must admit, I am being driven a bit crazy by the 55dB from this unit.

But, I expect it to calm down soon.

If not....then I will just feed it some of my Thorazine.....

(I think I still have enough for BOTH of us.)

Yes, this very loud noise from the CYBER might drive me crazy, and who might blame me...if this noise were to persist.

But, it will NOT persist.

I have faith.

Meanwhile, speaking of CRAZY.....

Best play this tune, for the next few hours....

Over, and over, again....

Best way I know to drown out, in a good way, the sound of this UPS....

Yes...

I am very happy with it.

For sure.

Thank you.

Nice unit, but it sounds like it's not the quietest for desktop use.

IMPORTANT NOTE: And, as a pure scientist, I must be fully transparent....

a. Please note that this is a great UPS, and it is very low cost, for what you get. I would buy it again. So, let this please be said.

b. Why was this UPS unit so LOUD when first plugged in to the mains?

Simple. It was going through its routine, and charging its batteries, at maximum charge, after being shipped from the factory, and having waiting FOR ME in the very lonely warehouse, all alone by itself.

Could you blame it for crying and making noise, at first, while adjusting to its new home and owner?

c. ALSO, most importantly, the factory specs tell you that you must first plug it in to the mains, with NO LOAD, for 5 hours. This is written into the firmware.

d. As soon as we (my UPS and ME), hit 5 hours....this girl quieted right down. Now, it is nearly silent.

======================

SO....I do not want to suggest that I am not EXTREMELY HAPPY with this UPS....(No Way...JOSE....).

If you asked me today, would I buy it again...the answer is YES, and this goes DOUBLE, for me.

I really like this UPS.

And, also: I would not have known about this UPS if it had not been for the thoughtfulness of one of our greatest TV members.

So, thank you to you, and you know who you are.

===============

TO REPEAT....

a. The batteries in this UPS are now fully charged.

b. This new UPS is quiet as a lamb.

I cannot emphasize enough:

If it has not been for TV, and the thoughtfulness of TV members, I would not have this UPS.

I would have, due to my wellknown ignorance, have purchased a different UPS, which would not have been half as good...

IMHO.

So...

I just wanted to be clear, and I will not joke, now.

I would buy this same UPS, again, and again.

It is GOOD, Folks.

And, thank you to the guy who RULES, now, IMHO...UKRULES.

He saved me from buying a product that I would have regretted buying, probably for many years.

He saved me from myself, is what I am saying.

Am I clear now?

How many times do I need to say this:

I am really and truly grateful for reading his comment in this thread.
He was SPOT ON in his very well-informed advice.

==========

SO...Thank you.
I will now connect my new laptop to this great UPS...with...

Complete Peace of Mind.

(Sure, I know that I joke all the time. Even when I say I am not joking, still I am joking. BUT, now I am not joking. Just check the specs, and you will know that I am not joking.)

OK?

And, this machine, this UPS is NOT NOISY....once it is fully charged and ready to go.

OK?

I am in love, again....

FINAL NOTE:....Man, I just love this song, too...And the vid is one of my favorites....

image.png

FINAL FINAL NOTE: When I save up enough money....I will buy this SAME CYBER unit to connect to one of my other computers, and i5 desktop. But, I will not be able to afford this for about six more months, I predict. I like the fact that this company cares about Linux, and they seem to support Linux. This is very important to me, of course....
