Bangkok booze ban

Featured Replies

I saw on Reddit that there is a booze ban on Saturday 31st January in Bangkok due to elections.

Is this a complete ban or only certain areas of Bangkok.

How about Sukhumvut?

Nationwide ban both this weekend and next:

Saturday 31st 6pm - Sunday 1st 6pm

Saturday 7th 6pm - Sunday 8th 6pm

But the nationwide ban is for specific areas where local elections are being held.

A couple of weeks ago could not buy beer in our village but 3 miles up the road ŵe did.

No. This coming weekend it's for advance voting in the upcoming general election. Both weekends should see the ban enforced nationwide.

Agreed, and the Election Committee have also reinforced that entertainment zones which no longer close on Buddha days will have to close for these election days.

But the weed shops will still be selling. I sometimes wonder at the reasoning behind that.

When the election laws were written, weed was not legal.
