A female assistant professor died after falling from a 23-storey building in central Bangkok, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death. The incident occurred within an educational and nursing institute building in the Pathum Wan area, causing shock among staff and residents in the busy city district.

Police from Pathum Wan Police Station were alerted at approximately 09:35 on 27 January 2026 to reports of a woman who had fallen from a height and was found deceased. Officers and emergency responders attended the scene, which was located on the rooftop area of the 12th floor of the building. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene after being found lying face down.

The deceased was later identified only as Assistant Professor A, a female academic associated with the institution. Preliminary checks indicated that she had fallen from Room 2321 on the 23rd floor of the same building. No immediate signs explaining the cause of the fall were confirmed at the time of the initial inspection.

According to witness statements, the body was discovered by a person carrying out routine cleaning duties. After opening the rear window blinds of a room, the cleaner noticed the body on the 12th-floor rooftop area below. The discovery was immediately reported to the building’s management office, which then contacted the police.

Following the notification, police officers and rescue personnel secured the area and conducted an initial examination. Investigators from Pathum Wan Police Station coordinated with relevant agencies to follow standard legal and forensic procedures. The area was cordoned off while evidence and contextual information were gathered.

Authorities stated that they are continuing to examine surrounding circumstances and collect witness testimony. This includes reviewing the scene around Room 2321 on the 23rd floor and assessing any available information that could clarify how the fall occurred. At this stage, officials have not disclosed any conclusions regarding whether the incident was accidental or the result of other factors.

SiamNews reported that police indicated that further details would be released once the investigation progresses. The case remains under active review as officers work to determine the exact cause of death and establish a clear timeline of events leading up to the incident.

The fence seems to be high enough, so an accidental fall is very unlikely

It´s just one of those weeks. Seems like people dropping like flies.
