Hydrophilic urinary intermittent catheter

Featured Replies

Has anyone found a good source of hydrophobic urinary catheter for intermittent catheterization? I can only find basic nelaton catheters.

Thanks

If you use AI (recommended) then you find all information you need:

"Hydrophobic urinary catheter for intermittent catheterization to buy in Thailand" (Co-Pilot)

Nelaton and foley are all I have seen.

A hydrophilic catheter would likely have to be imported. The higher end private hospitals might have.

??

Hydrophobic intermittent catheters are available in Thailand, but they are not always listed under the term “hydrophobic.” They are usually sold as pre‑lubricated, hydrophilic-coated, or ready‑to‑use intermittent catheters. The most reliable places to buy them in Thailand are medical‑supply distributors, hospital suppliers, and major e‑commerce platforms.

Thaitan Medical Supply (Bangkok)

Shopee Reusable silicone self‑catheter (Phycon)

If you need single‑use hydrophilic, you must search for:

  • “Hydrophilic catheter”

  • “Pre‑lubricated catheter”

  • “Ready to use catheter”

  • “SpeediCath” (Coloplast)

  • “VaPro” (Hollister)

Best Brands to Look For in Thailand

These are commonly imported into Southeast Asia:

    • Coloplast SpeediCath (very smooth, hydrophilic)

    • Hollister VaPro / VaPro Plus

    • Bard Magic3 Go

    • Teleflex LiquiCell / FloCath

Thanks to all for the information. Unfortunately it would be too expensive or too cumbersome to import by myself

I believe @Xylophone has to perform intermittent catheterizations maybe PM him for info on catheter type and source.

You could also try contacting Coloplast Thailand. https://www.coloplast.co.th/

open in Chrome for translation. The website lists only ostomy supplies but there is a contact phone number, you could try calling and ask if they know local source for Coloplast Speedicath.

As mentioned the only catheters I have so far seen sold here are either latex, silicon or PVC (nalaton). Any of these should work OK if you use smallest effective size French and ample water soluble lubricant.

Hi, I did post some information regarding the catheters I use for ICC, but it disappeared somehow???

I buy mine from Lazada and they are made by Fuji Systems and cost about 800 baht but they can be used many times provided they are used correctly and sterilised accordingly, and because they are not hydrophilic, I have to use a lubricating/numbing gel with them called Xylocaine.

I don't know if this helps you, however if you want to discuss it further or want more information, then please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Good luck.

Just for information, I use non reusable sterile catheters for intermittent self catheterization (male) now. I prefer not to use reusables for convenience and not to risk UTI. I pay 6,250 Bahts for 500 pcs, 12.5 Bahts/pc delivered at my house. For lubrication, I just buy a K-Y sterile (not sure it's necessary) gel at any pharmacy. I am used to it now and it's not painful.

For the benefit of others, can you link where you buy these from?

The lubricant is essential to avoid trauma/irritation which, aside from discomfort, is a risk factor for infection.

I buy my catheters from Thai Pure Device (M.E. Meditek). They are the actual manufacturers not retailers. I am not sure they are interested in selling small quantities to people. They mostly sell to hospitals. My wife used to work there and it may be a favor.
