Trump wants 250-ft triumphal arch

Featured Replies

Not going to happen. Needs funding from Congress. There are enough members who take fiscal responsibility seriously, who would join with those opposed to Trump to prevent funding. The country has a budget deficit and Trump wants to spend money on a vanity project.

  • We don't want an arch. We are however contemplating erecting a statue to Donald Trump in Parliament Square, as our contribution to the 250 year anniversary celebrations. It will complete a triumvirate

An arch is an ideal location for hanging a swinging noose in the middle.

Gosh, that's even biglyer than the French one, a measly 162 feet! Think he's compensating for something?

I think Trump committed treason, albeit not by the pure legal definition.

Well treason has a legal definition, he either is guilty of it or hes not. So you either think he did it and should pay the ultimate price or you are a MAGA apologist.

How about a bridge instead? Maybe he could ask that nice Mr. Khan if he could buy London Bridge?

I just wish people stopped throwing around the word treason. What most people mean to say is "I don't like him" it is insurrection from enemies within.

Disgusting. How dare he want to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the worse and most murderous nation in history.

The entire world should boycott the white supremicist, racist, facist Americans. They are a disease that can only be cured by quarantine and eradication. Only decent, humane nations who have never been racist and colonialist powers should be permitted to have arches, like France, Germany and England.

You are possibly someone pretending to be American (maybe a Russian). America already has a number of arches, but non-Americans maybe unaware of them,

  • Gateway Arch, St Louis. Modernist stainless steel arch built as a memorial, opened in 1967 to commemorate men and women of the Westward expansion, but also intended to rejuvenate the riverfront.

  • Washington Square Arch; Lower Manhatten. In the classic Greek-Roman triumphal arch style, to commemorate the centennial of George Washington's inaugaration

  • National Memorial Arch, Valley Forge National Memorial Park. Built to commemorate the arrival of the Continental Army at Valley Forge.

  • Grand Army of the Republic Memorial Arch, Kansas City.

  • Memorial Arch, Huntingdon, West Virginia. WW1 memorial

  • Memorial Arch, Northfield, New Hampshire. Built privately as a folly in the 1880s on private land

  • Millenium Gate Museum, Atlanta. Millenium memorial

  • Victory Arch, Newport News, Virginia. WW1 memorial

  • Perry Memorial Arch, Bridgeport, Connecticut

  • Rosedale Arch, Kansas City. WW1 memorial

  • Smith Memorial Arch, Philadelphia. Civil War memorial

  • Soldier and Sailors Memorial, Hartford, Connecticut. Civil War memorial

  • Solder and Sailor's Arch, Brooklyn. Civil War memorial

Naturally a list largely unknown to Russians on a tight timetable.

Great arch, my old stomping grounds a shame to see it taken over by Junkies and bums. Did you know the famous triangle shirt waiste fire took place about 200 meters away? That got the Garment Workers Union going.

How many of those memorials have you been to? The one in Fort Erie is kind of cool but that's in Canada
