Fort Worth Democrat Taylor Rehmet, a machinist and Air Force veteran, defeated Southlake Republican Leigh Wambsganss to fill the vacant state Senate District 9.
The district favored President Trump — who endorsed Wambsganss earlier on Saturday — by 17 points in 2024. “When a grassroots union organizer like Taylor Rehmet overperforms by almost 20 points and forces a runoff, it couldn’t be any clearer that voters are tired of Republican bull<deleted>,” Texas Democratic Party Chairman Kendall Scudder said in a statement after the November race."

The GOP candidate was endorsed by Trump, Abbot and the entire GOP establishment, and get this; the GOP candidate outspent the Dem 20:1!

And still it turned from a 17% GOP win for Trump in 2024 to a 14% Dem win, a swing of 31%!

Congratulations to the Dems. They have one person, and one person only, to thank for this astounding victory in a deep red district that hasn't voted for a Dem since 1991!
