The thing that struck me was the photos of the top military guys. They dont look like they could even lift a rifle.

Is China all show, and no substance? Does this mean that China will be forced to attack Taiwan simply to demonstrate it can?

The days of military guys lifting a rifle are well and truly over in the sense of modern warfare, not street to street fighting.

AI and drones are the modern warfare systems.

I read an article that the Chinese were putting silhouettes of US aircraft carriers in a desert. Unlikely it is for for traing bomber pilots. More likely for training AI to recognise the target and then direct massive drone attacks to overwhelm any defense system. Also read an article describing an AI piloted bomber sized aircraft that can deliver 1000's of smaller drones to a combat area.

Scary stuff.

Anything that generates large casualties will cost Xi his position in power. Remember, all these people in the Chinese armed forces are men and women who came from One-Child families, because of Chinese restrictions on family size until a few years ago. Everytime one of these soldiers dies, an entire family lineage will be erased. Plus these guys haven't been to war since 1979, crossing to some place like the Taiwan Straits is going to scare them so much they'll likely freeze. Sitting ducks.

This is the natural order of entropy. Personally I will go for Navajo Indians - when I cycled in my youth across Utah/Nevada and Arizona across the reservations native Amercians would without exception pick up me and my mate and put our fully laden bikes in the back of the pick up - whitie - never. I was watching the History channel about the Nazis, unsurprisingly.

They had the world beat. Until the US became involved.

The leadership knew that once the industrial factories of the US ramped up, they were doomed. And they were right.

Good luck with any country keeping up with China. Most countries have exported their manufacturing capability to China over the last few decades.

Not sure how this will end, but not feeling good about it.

Having said that, I've been friends with a few Chinese people over the years and their lives don't seem much different to ours. All want to make money and have a good life. Not sure the dystopian scenoario that we are lead to believe actually happens in day to day life.

Actually I didn't steal anything. I was born here 200 years years after the first fleet landed. Got quite a few black fellas mates too, went to school with them They don't seem too concerned about it.

All land is stolen by others. Every country has boundaries that people fought and died for. Power has some rich and many poor.

People weren't in America long ago. The Indians came first, and then the whites pushed them off land they lived on and into much smaller holdings. The same happened here in Thailand and everywhere else.

People went to America and received a certain amount of land to build and farm on. Usually 160 acres. Some in Texas increased that up to over a million acres. Swindling, buying some land when others went into debt and killing their neighbors. Many have thousands of acres because this is what their ancestors did.

In the modern era, oil was discovered and many had enough money to purchase neighboring land to put up oil wells and raise cattle.

Impossible to give land back as people have enough money to get away with almost anything these days, and most people don't have the money to buy such huge tracts so those who own them keep them, or if they run into debts because of bad practices, they can sell some of their land for millions and a subdivision will be built, and they'll live on the remainder, exactly what's been happening in Texas the last decades.
