Police have arrested a 31-year-old Lao woman for allegedly operating a secret online group that coerced minors into producing explicit content. The arrest, made on 30 January, followed an investigation into an account with over 30,000 followers. Three victims, aged between 12 and 15, have been placed into protective care.

The suspect, known as “Naemfun,” was apprehended at a hotel in Pathum Thani province. She is accused of administering a popular social media account which posted illicit material to advertise a secret Line group. Membership to this group was sold for between 300 and 499 baht per person.

Police Major General Withaya Sripresertaphab confirmed the suspect confessed to the offences. Investigators found that in under a month, the illicit operation had a cash flow exceeding 170,000 baht. Payments were allegedly funneled through the victims’ bank accounts to evade detection, but financial trails confirmed the suspect was the beneficiary.

The victims reportedly faced severe exploitation, including being forced to film videos. They were coerced through intimidation, verbal abuse and psychological pressure, making them feel guilty if they refused to cooperate or asked to go home. The suspect allegedly kept most of the profits, giving each victim only around 200 baht at a time, totalling 1,000–2,000 baht weekly.

Authorities have levelled multiple charges, including human trafficking for producing child abuse material, possessing and disseminating child pornography, and coercing a child into an obscene act. The suspect also faces charges for importing obscene computer data and entering the kingdom illegally. Police are now working to expand the investigation to identify and prosecute the group's members and buyers of the content.

Khoasod reported that the three rescued girls are now under the protection of the Bangkret Trakan shelter, operated by the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security. They are receiving legal assistance and psychological rehabilitation. Police officials have stated their intent to pursue all individuals involved in consuming the illegal content to the fullest extent of the law.

Key Takeaways

· Police arrested a Lao national accused of running a child exploitation ring that forced three girls, aged 12–15, to film explicit videos.

· The operation, run via social media and a secret chat group, generated over 170,000 baht in less than a month by selling memberships.

· Authorities have filed multiple charges including human trafficking and are expanding the case to target the group's buyers and members.

Why do you say that?

Their nationality wasn’t the question. The question was whether the police will pursue the purchasers of the perverted porn.

And of course, they absolutely should. And apparently are.

When i lived in Cambodia in the early 2000's, my neighbor told me he used to go to the local dvd sellers and would buy a bunch of the local porn videos, apparently without looking at the covers. Kind of like those books by the yard places where you buy books to fill up the empty shelves in your bookshelves. He said about 20% of them were kiddie porn.

For the life of me I have no idea why anyone would need porn in Cambodia in the early 2000's. For $20 you could go out, get a good meal, get drunk and get your female companionship.

I hope she gets prosecuted and it results in a rather extreme penalty. I would go so far as to suggest the death penalty for crimes of this nature, as this woman seems to be of no use to anyone, and even her mother will likely not miss her one iota.

Those kids could end up emotionally scarred for life.

I agree totally. A long time ago I acted for a child victim of this type of exploitation

At the age of perhaps 12 she was a broken person and clearly was going to have to handle huge issues of trust in relationships for the future

All terribly sad - and the perpetrators should suffer the harshest sentences possible

30 thousand of them. And that's just with her small operation. Jesus wept.
