A foreign tourist was apprehended on Koh Samui after forcibly taking a vehicle from a local driver and driving with him clinging to the side for 3.5 kilometers, police confirmed. The disturbance occurred on Highway 4169, with witnesses reporting the man, around 35 years old and of unknown nationality, attempted to enter multiple cars before seizing an Isuzu SUV. Despite the alarming situation, no serious injuries resulted.

The drama unfolded near the Isan Krok Yai restaurant in tambon Bo Phut. A Thai driver opening his vehicle door was met with the foreigner pulling him out before driving off. The police pursued quickly, culminating in the apprehension of the suspect at the Bo Phut T-junction.

Authorities found the man incoherent and suspect that he was hallucinating, prompting a medical and drug assessment. A witness recounted her fear and inability to assist, describing the suspect's erratic behavior as intimidating. The incident disrupted routine activity around the popular tourist island.

Experts commented on the potential risks tourists facing mental health issues pose to public safety, highlighting the need for improved public awareness and emergency response. Meanwhile, another foreign driver, present during the event, refrained from intervening due to the suspect's unpredictable demeanor.

Police have detained the suspect pending formal charges, continuing the investigation to determine the motivation and circumstances. Future measures may include increased surveillance and support for foreign visitors experiencing crises. The local community remains focused on maintaining safety while balancing the hospitality essential to their economy, reported Bangkok Post.

Great, another one to be deported and blacklisted. An ever-growing list!

The police officer on the left is dressed quite similar to an ICE officers. Face covered and no clear markings.
