Seeking Keppra and Atorvastatin

Featured Replies

So, after a short spell in hospital recently I have been assigned a 2 year course of medication ( 4 different ones ).

The monthly bill for this, from the private hospital, is close to 10k baht.

I am trying to see if i can buy the medication myself to cut the cost.

Of the 4 items i found Manidipine and Aspirin 81 mg locally very easily but have drawn a blank with these two items.

Have tried looking online at Medisafe and Fascino to no avail.

So, if anyone has any suggestions re how to procure these two items i would be very grateful, am in Northern Bangkok ( Rangsit ).

There are cheap locally made generics of Atorvastatin (Atorvin, Chlovas, Lipostat are names I have from a few years ago when I use to take the stuff).

Call Mongkut Medical, Ratchwithi, 092-6340066, big pharmacy near Victory Monument for prices.

Oops. Never mind. The OP did post a location and I missed it.

Good news, I was able to save over 75% off the hospital pharmacy prices. Even the brand names were less than half the price at some of the huge pharmacies around Bangkok. Generics, even cheraper.

Medisafe almost always has Atorvastatin. Did you ask via Messenger? Online search on their website is not effective. Have to chat via Messenger.

Likewise I'm sure Fascino would have both, though there is not a full branch near you....and they might only have imported brand of Keppra. Online search doesn't work for Fascino either. Might be possibel to Libe message them though. But, not very convenoent to your location.

If (after chatting via Messenger) Medisafe doesn't have what you need I suggest these pharmacies which stock cheap generics:

  • Wholesale pharmacy on Pradiprat Road, just a short distance from Huay Kwang BTS, and on the Pradiprat portion opposite of Big C.  Walking from the main intersection, the pharmacy is located about 60 meters on the left.

  • Por Bor Pesat pharmacy on Sukhumvit 71, Klong Tan, at the intersection with Petchabury/Pattanahkhan Rd's, even soi side..the very last storefront before the intersection

  • Roong Rote Pharmacy on Soi On-Nut (Sukhumvit Soi 77), just about 50 - 75 meters fromSukhumvit Road, on right side.

Thanks Sheryl, i will follow up via Messenger or failing that take a visit to the pharmacies you mentioned.

A very easy, large and reasonably priced pharmacy very close to the Phra Khanong BTS: SIAM PHARMACY. Exit the BTS by Exit-1, at street level, walk against the direction of traffic about 100 meters. It will be on your right.

I regularly order & receive atorvastatin (Clovas, Lipvas) from Medisafe Pharmacy online via Facebook Messenger. I pay by bank transfer. My meds always in stock and best price I've found. The total monthly costs of my meds from a hospital pharmacy was about B12,000/mo. Same meds ordered from Medisafe are about B4000/mo. Most are generics while hospital are from original distributors, though a few were generics.

Local pharmacies will be happy sell it to you. Maybe a different brand though

I made contact with Medisafe via FB Messenger and they confirmed they had both the items i am looking for, i asked them for the price and they simply stopped responding.

Will send them another message to remind them i am waiting.

Medisafe never responded to my Messenger message so i asked the little lady to add them on Line and request the meds in Thai.

Now, my beloved is very suspicious of buying anything “ expensive “ online, of course this doesn’t apply to the cheap tat she buys from Lazada, Shopee, etc ( and more recently Tik Tok ), so she said she would go to Victory Monument personally and buy them with cash !!

Off she went this morning and after a couple of hours had bought the exact same medication, she refused generics and moved on to another pharmacy until she found the exact same !!

My little stubborn beauty !!

So, one of the pharmacies attached to one of the hospitals in walking distance from Victory Monument is the only info i have.

( my little stubborn beauty who doesn’t worry about details !! ).

Anyway, the private hospital near home wanted to charge 10k a month for:

1 a day Aspirin

1 a day Manidipine

1 a day Atorvastatin

2 a day Levetiracetam

( plus the usual blood pressure test, weight and height info and a 30 second doctor’s appointment to ask me “how i am doing” ? )

The little lady procured all the above medications plus another month supply of Atorvastatin and Levetiracetam for 3k.

Thanks for the assistance.

Yes. For whatever reason, the online rep. at Medisafe can get a bit testy when pressed. Perhaps somewhat overwhelmed. I suggest you just make an order. Eventually he will send you an invoice with the prices and you can then choose to reject it if you feel too high.

I would like to find that wholesale pharmacy. Pradiphat Road is off Phahonyothin Road, not Huay Khwang. Around Pradiphat, I can only find small pharmacies. Do you know the name of the place?

Afraid not. I have only these directions to offer.

It is the Huay Khwang BTS stop (which is indeed on Phahonyothin Rd). that it is near. Opposite the Big C.

I don't think it will be much (if any) less expensive than the other 2 listed, thety are all about the same and all 3 stock inexpensive generics.
