Using a Thai Bank ATM Card Outside Thailand

Featured Replies

Has anyone used a Thai Bank ATM card outside Thailand?

Does it work in every country?

The PIN in Thailand is 6 digits, but not all banks in other countries use 6 digits. How do you get around this?

I have a kasikorn credit card I mostly use but at times I use my Bangkok bank debit card, works every country outside Thailand I've had to use it

I have a SCB & BBB....Both worked flawlessly in the US & on flight stopovers....

I also have an SCB prepaid card thinking I might need it, but didn't.....

One time I tried a local community bank ATM that didn't - but it also didn't work for my Bank of America card, so I fault the bank on that.....

I went into that bank wanting to break a 100$ bill - they wouldn't because I was not their account holder/client....

So, I went to 3 other banks until one did....

No. You must be running out of things to do so that you ask such questions

Nah, never used the thai ATM card outside Thailand.

Also, not all countries use 6 digits for PINs ... so it's a valid question.

The 6 digit pin is for your own card..nothing to do with an ATM machine in another country (even if that particular country only has a 4 pin system for their cards).

So in a country with a 4 PIN system, just enter the first 4 digits on my card and it should work, right?

Please read what I said. The pin system (if 4 PIN) is only for that countries cards, not your card. Your card still follows your 6 PIN protocol and that's what you enter.

eg: If a guy with a card from a 4 PIN country comes and uses the ATM in Pattaya, he will just insert his 4 Pin code.

What you’re assuming is that the atm’s are limited to a four digit pin system, they are not.
