TM30 registration

Featured Replies

This is something I've never had to deal with personally before

Circumstances have changed for me

This is the scenario

I intend to stay in Girlfriends house in North Bangkok for next trip......I have been quite ill since June last year with hospital 6 times albeit have recovered 80% with just one problem to sort out medically.

Now (if and when I arrive) if I stay at a local Suvarnabhumbi hotel for a day or two they will auto register the TM30 ?? Correct ??

Now if I then check out and go to her house does the original TM30 remain valid in the "system" ?? Can I ask for copy of TM30 via email or hard copy ??

I ask because I know that if I want an extension (and I will) to the SETV that TM30 needs to be accessed

Last couple entries at Suvarnabhumbi have had some questioning over onward tickets hotels etc so dont want to rely on supplying her home address and hoping it will suffice....I would print off the Suvarnabhumbi hotel booking

Hope all that makes sense !

Hotel will do TM30 and you can ask them for a copy, should not be a problem. But, who owns your girlfriends house? If it's her house then she can easily register an up to date TM30 for you when you arrive there. Strictly speaking she or someone is supposed to be doing that as a matter of course.

Yes she owns the house

What am trying to avoid is any query at immigration because clearly at that point in time TM30 wont be registered anywhere (hence having advance print off of local hotel)...last entry the immigration guy spent some time writing something on his computer

I'm quite happy dropping anchor for couple days at Suvarnabhumbi hotel...surprisingly cheap many of them

(had previously 3 visa exempt 60 day entries in a row 2 of which were extended)

So she normally does a TM30 for you or not? I'm struggling to see any problem or need for the hotel, she can submit a TM30 online in a minute or 2 the moment your plane lands.

No have never stayed there from day 1 previously......always visited previously her house when I had long time rented Condo with a registration from the owner

Yes am not relying on a 3rd party (no matter who) to do a TM30 60 seconds after I land lol.....!

There are other reasons I fancy a hotel for a day or two

Thanks for your input

tm 30 is the responsibility of the house owner done within 24 hours of arrival, staying 2 nights in a hotel does not change the house owners responsibility

TM30 notifications have an optional "checkout date" field. In the case of a hotel, it's not unlikely that they fill that in with your checkout date, so no, you cannot rely on the hotel's TM30 notification remaining valid in the system after you check out. As said by others, when you move to a house it becomes the house owner's responsibility to file a TM30 notification for you.

You can do a tourist extension when you have 45 days or less left in Bangkok. So that means slightly more than 2 weeks into your trip you can take care of it. So just try to get it done as quickly as possible once you enter so it's not something you need to worry about with potential hospital stays etc.

And don't forget that if you have the SETV from the embassy, it's Chaeng Watthana for extension. But if you enter visa exempt without any visa, it's IT Square Laksi.

If you plan far enough ahead, you can even book a free appointment and get it done quickly.

No, it doesn't remain valid because the hotel shows your check-in and checkout dates on the TN30, so after you've checked out, you need a new TM30 submitted by the owner of the next place you are staying at.

No need to bother with copy of the hotel TM30. Your girlfriend can go and do it at her local IO at her leisure as long as she states you just arrived within the last 24 hours. She can tell them you've been staying in Bangkok hotels since you arrived If they ask. I have done this for many years, usually 4 to 6 weeks after arriving in Thailand, for my rented apartment where the landlord then goes at his leisure with the copies of the required documents: signed copy of his ID + signed copy of his house book plus signed copies of my relevant passport pages.

Surely you are taking an unnecessary gamble by using a TM 30 which may well have been registered that you had already left the hotel

Thanks to all that responded

In a non related question; if I spend an extended time at a hospital in Bangkok, do they do a TM30 on me here? If so, I assume I'll have to do another when I get back home. Thanks

When would you next deal with immigration.

If it's for annual extension then do a TM30 just prior to extension

When i get my extension at laksi i had to fill our which hotel i stayed in and even my room number there. The IO even called my hotel for confirmation that i staying there.. something the manager confirmed. The IO told me they doing that because some foreigner lying about where they actually stay.At laksi i talked with a American guy who said to me this immigration was so easy to go to for extension.Guess he get surprised when they refuse his extension and told him to cross the border to Cambodia and get a new visa entering Thailand. He get really stressed and said he didn't have the founds to go there and come back. They just said if so he have a problem and the IMM can't help him at all. This was the time before the borderclashes with Cambodia and they closed the border for visaruns.
