Decorated London Bridge Detective Sacked Over ‘Pikey’ Messages

Pikey is a race now, along with Islam? What next? Chavs? Toffs? Mormons? 😄

The category certainly seems to be expanding. I guess your demand for racism is exceeding the supply again so you need to search high and (in your case) low.

I suggest you read what the UK law has to say on the matter.

To be fair I thought Brad Pitts mangled oirish accent in Snatch should have been a criminal offense. Well remember the whole Odeon bursting out laughing when he 1st spoke. Classic😅

So now impersonating his accent gets heros fired from their job. Nice 1 wokies

Addressing your revised post.

wrt this case, what constitutes a race is a matter of UK law.

Oddly that’s not something that is spirited into existence by you imagining I demand stuff to feed your need for grievance.

A search is indeed in order, go search UK law and inform yourself before posting on the matter rather than relying on ignorant imagination.

Wow you managed to turn my post about wokeism into a Trump hate rant. Well done you.

What is really fascinating about Trump is that he's invented his own brand of woke, so instead of identity politics it's personality politics, and if you don't agree with his personality and policies, you are subject to victim culture. He is a total snowflake.

Thanks for this but I doubt many of the posters here will bother reading the report. I did and it illuminated a situation that I initially thought was going a bit too far.

  1. If you don't want to abide by the rules then don't become a policemen (albeit transport police). They have rules that come under Standards of Professional Behaviour, and one of them 'requires officers to act with self control and tolerance, treating all people with respect and courtesy. The standard of Equality and Diversity requires Officers to act with fairness and impartiality and not to discriminate unlawfully and unfairly.'

  2. He confessed to misconduct (which would have got him a slap on the wrist) but this didn't help his cause because it was only a small step for them to then prove gross misconduct, which like all jobs, gets you fired immediately.

  3. His 'defence' is he didn't know 'pikey' was derogatory when pretty much every Brit has seen Snatch and we ALL know it's derogatory slang term referring to Gypsy, Roma and Traveler people. Christ one of the main parts in the film talks about 'I f'ing hate pikeys'.

  4. His claims of PTSD and using humour to aleviate it were also easily dismissed as a desperate attempt to get out of what he'd already admitted to doing.

Peronally I think a slap on the wrist would have sufficed but once you start admitting to things you are almost certainly leading the panel down a path and once that path gets to gross misconduct, there really is no other choice available. Silly situation but them thar are the breaks.

It depends on what your confessing to, I believe that had Clinton admitted that he had gone with Monica and gone as far as to say he had gotten with a lot of women the whole thing would have blown over in a day or two. So it was his denial that got him in trouble. It's the same with Trump, had Trump simply admitted that he was good friends with Epstein this probably would have gone away too, but the constant and infantile denial is his Kryptonite. And that's a good thing because there are a few things in life that are more pleasurable than seeing Donald Trump suffer.

"Gypsy" is a corruption of "Egyptian", because thats where people thought they came from. The Roma are descended from Northern India. Pikey is a derogatory word to descibe Roma. Yeah, you're a racist, and your posting fits with other numerous statements you've said on the forum. Maybe you're not, and you just state these things here to wind people up/for the clicks/likes/hates.

Mormon is a religion.

Chav is a co-opted Roma word.

Toff merely represents the upper class, possibly in reference to an adornment worn by Oxford graduates.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, the law is very clear. Did you say it (or do it) or didn't you?

I do think it was not a dismissal charge, but I don't make the rules.

When a Police officer signs up to the job, they know the rules.

Another job setting where people can be punished, quite harshly, for minor infractions, is the armed forces.

Failure to provide a breath test for a civvie will typically result in loss of driving licence and a fine. In the army, it gets you 51 weeks in prison. If you fail to support the police when asked, 2 years inside. Overfill the petrol tank; dismissed with disgrace (lose your job). Drunk on duty could get you 2 years in th Glass House. Pulling a sickie, 2 years inside. etc.

Similarly the medical profession, where a single error can lead you to losing your livelihood. Generally, we are glad this happens.

You enjoying racial humor and engaging in racist stereotyping is an indication of your own failings;

Now hang on a minute there. Benny Hill was arguably one of the all time great comedians. Just because I think it's funny doesn't make me a racist. Just like saying Somalians are neck deep in fraud in Minnesota doesn't make me a racist or saying the black community in the US per capita commit a significantly high proportion of all crime doesn't make me a racist.

Well that just shows your ignorance on what his accent was supposed to be. It was superb and was literally critically acclaimed.

Except that's not what happened is it. Not like you to make things up.

I think you focusing on Somalians and Black people might be a clue.

Facts are facts and facts cut through race and puerile race baiting.

It’s perhaps which facts you fixate on.

Reaching for completely off topic facts is another clue.

This is a UK police officer.

Or at least he was.

How's this for on topic then. The movie snatch would not be allowed to be made today in the UK.

Making things up again. It is obvious you know nothing of British comedy or British culture.

Snatch would 100% be allowed to be made today. You really are displaying amazing ignorance and it is clear you do not understand British culture at all.

Have you even seen Snatch?

Many times. "Five minutes Turkish." "It was two minutes five minutes ago." As for British culture true I'm not a Brit but I was brought up on British TV shows and as for comedy do you think a remake of The Benny Hill Show would see the light of day today?

It is not a case that it would not be "allowed" to be made. It wouldn't be made in the same way as 26 years ago. The film, with its casting and soundtrack, was aimed at the 25-35 demographic (Generation X). The audience who watched it then first time, are now approaching pensionable age, perhaps even dead due to natural causes.

A 2026 version would be aimed at today's 25-35 year olds, or millennials.

If the film was made in 1975, it would have been very different again.

Imagining what a 1975 and 2026 would be be like would be quite an interesting exercise. 1975 Mickey also wouldn't have used an Irish actor, but likely framed around a Traveller with a Cockney-type accent, lovable rogue types, like Ian McShane. In 2026, there is no shortage of charismatic young Irish actors, such as Barry Keoghan.

Brad Pitt, or some other American actor, would never have landed the role of Mickey "One Punch" for a start (Colin Farrell would have been better first time around). Likely the Traveller characters represented would have been more humanised than they were portrayed. The Roma steroetypes would be toned down. Turkish and Tommy’s dialogue that included casual homophobia, misogyny, and other language would be toned down.

Humour changes quite markedly from generation to generation. Laurel and Hardy dated quickly. The Carry On joke wore thin. Older people find the original "The Office" completely unfunny.

No it wouldn't.

As a non-British person, you would have only seen a highly selected version of British comedy. Most of it you would have been oblivious to. And you might not have noticed the well known British sitcoms that were remade for foreign audiences, such as Sanford and Son.

Snatch wouldn't be made the same now, but even in 2000 it was taking the piss out of the people who laughed at the jokes in that film.
