Pick up Truck Valuation

Featured Replies

I want to put my pick up truck up for sale this week and ask any members what they think the valuation might be .

Description- Mg Extender First Reg in Aug 25 White Cab and Half Mileage Around 2800 kilos Fa-rang owned in Thai Name Manual Diesel

This truck is a 22 model but first reg in aug 25 is in as new condition and was sold with full MG 5 year warranty

These Trucks and there was 82 at the time off order and 1 month later 11 left were sold at a discount

There will be no new extenders for sale now as far as i know all gone MG is concentrating on Electric vehicles

The Truck in question has been stored under a cover for 3 months now and is started and run once a week

It was bought in Bangkok and driven up to Chiang Mai where it had the chassis underneath rustproofed

It has had one journey to Pattaya and back to CM and A couple off journeys to home pro and that is it . So mileage is under 3k

We are building a house here in a village in Lamphun and have a contractor doing everything so our pickup truck is not Required

I refuse to use this pickup truck as a building truck and anyway my wife's brother has a truck if needed

We have a car and also a samlor which our wee dog is addicted to and use daily .The truck just sits there under a cover

My wife cannot drive the truck as its far to big for her and the roads are very narrow in the village- is not automatic and yes i have made a mistake buying it in the first place.

Truck - condition is immaculate and as new and there is not a mark on it . I get it hand polished and will be polished again this week . No it has never been in a bump or scraped never mind an accident

Truck has had about 50000 baht off extras on it including front and rear bumpers body wheel arch mouldings tints tray wind deflectors special matts and an unused rear cover in a box that i was going to fit

It has no service history as its never had a service yet .The first service is due in about 2000 plus kilos at 5000 kilos

The truck is quiet high spec Led running light key-less entry computer cruise control brown interior matts to match ete

So I am into this truck for about 530000 Baht and as i cannot find a comparable truck to get a guide from so i estimate i was going to put the truck up for sale at 440000 baht fixed price

Yes Its an mg extender and as new but what would you value this truck at and also bear in mind it should have the balance of a 5 year warranty as well

My mate Al is in the business............

Valuation Logic

  • Market prices for 2022 Extenders with 30–40k km are around ฿380k–฿415k.

  • Yours has near‑zero mileage and extras, which should push it above that band.

  • However, MG Extenders are discount‑driven trucks with limited demand, and MG is pivoting to EVs — so resale values are softer than Toyota/Hilux or Isuzu D‑Max.

Fair Price Estimate

  • Realistic resale range: ฿420,000–฿460,000.

  • Your asking price (฿440,000 fixed) sits right in the middle — defensible, but expect buyers to negotiate down.

  • If you want a quicker sale, pricing closer to ฿420,000 may attract more interest.

1st service is 6 months or 5,000 km which ever comes 1st

after that its every 12 months as per service see attachment

I think 440k is a tad optimistic. At this moment there are four 2025 MG Extenders for sale on one2car with asking prices between 329k and 399k. 2024 models can be had for as low as 275k.

The extras might help your truck being more attractive and easier to sell, but extras seldom result in a higher sale price. That is especially the case for cars/trucks in the lower price ranges.

  • Popular Post

Take it to a car tent and ask them how much they would buy it for.... add 80k to that number and thats your selling price.

I'd say the money you're out is minimal and having a truck is nice to have especially as a homeowner. If you have to take a big hit on selling, maybe best to keep it.

Remember, the above prices offer finance and possibly some warranty. I suspect you are a cash only sale, so less than 300k would be realistic for somebody looking for an MG.

You bought the truck in 2022 and registered it in 25? If so, then the selling price is going to drop.

Thank you all to your replies

To--- Vinny 41 .Yes its the same truck as the silver one -the later model with the brown interior with 2600 kilos on the clock and all the extras including the rear bumper taken off and replaced with a tow-bar type black bull bar.

I have the original bumper stored for now white colour coded but that goes with the truck.

Tomorrow am going to book into The Mg centre in Chiang Mai for its first service as its 7 months old .Thanks vinny for letting me know .

If i cannot get 420k for it and as Even Keel says i might as well keep it and as i have an 8 meter by 4.5 meter garage being built along with a house and will be ready in about 3 months time it will be kept in there out of the sun wind and rain.

I might put it up for sale at 420k as Mike B Bad states and after it gets its first service later this week but it now looks like i will just keep it instead off giving it away.

Its a cracking big sturdy truck anyway as long as you are not a badge snob.

I knew i would get good answers from the people on this forum and i thank you again for taking the trouble to give the subject your input --Appreciated.

Its worth checking out

https://www.bahtsold.com/

There is one seller that seems to be a MG extender collector as they have at least 12 for sale

Don't really understand the listed prices as the majority range from B495K upwards for 2022 2023 and 2024 vehicles

Thanks Vinny will look at that

The truck is booked in for tomorrow at an MG service center in Chiang Mai for its first service

I will have a think what to to do with the truck after its first service

At this moment I am 50% to keep the truck and 50% to sell it

The swaying factor is my wife is small and the truck is huge for her and it’s a Manuel

She is only used to driving small automatic cars

Mmmm!

Before deciding to keep or sell suggest you check out the facebook groups for mg extender

there are still a few brand new models for sale

Personally I think the problem with your MG its a manual and its nearly new so your main competition will be from dealers and tents that will be offering low deposit finance with installments

for 2025 only 631 MG extenders were registered so its a small market i supect the number of manual models out of those 631 will be very small

If we assume MG extenders bought August 2025 appear as September registrations yours is one of only 16 registered

I feel sorry for you, the market for used cars has dropped the last 6 months. I was planning to sell my Toyota hilux truck but I had to change my mind. Mine was the top model when I bought it new 2020 and it has only 52000 km on the odo. All services made and it is nearly in mint condition. But I'm not going to give it away so I will keep it.

Good luck with tour MG truck!!

If you have a first class insurance it shows how much you'll get in case of total loss or if the car being stolen. Take about 10% off this number and that's as a rule of thumb what you might get for the truck. It might be lower if the model is obsolete.

No, most insurers weight the age much more than the milage. I have a Civic 2016 with only about 23000km that i am thinking about to sell. The insured value in my first class insurance contract is much lower than the price at all the market places i have been looking.

I'd be asking...."Que"?🙃🙃

The ongoing saga or dilema and thanks again to vinnie 41- Amazed you found that information..

Yesterday ( Tuesday 9am ) the truck was taken to The MG Service centre in Lamhpun

The MG extender was booked in for its first service with 2611 kilos on the clock

We recieved the truck back at 1.15pm fully valeted and immaculate

The service guy was 100% explaining everthing clearly and precicely including all the parts

They changed every filter-- engine oil- filters- ac filters even incluing the rear diff oil which i was surprized at and 4 liters of dif oil apparentlly- sump plug washer ete

Then they came back with a readout of the battery condition which was always in the back off my mind as the truck has had little use .Recommend new battery

Battery at MG 4200 baht plus 180 baht fitting charge .

You can go elswhere if you want and you may get a bit cheaper he said.

Now unbelievably monday night or 18 hours earlier we were booked in for my wifes car at B Quik at the big c centre Lamphun for an oil and filter change . 7pm

I always change the engine oil between 5 to 6 thousand kilos as it was drummed into me when i was a boy oil and filter- oil and filter-- always change and change early the rest off the engine does not matter but the oil and filter does. So i always change my oil and filter every 5 or 6 k I let B quik do it as its conveniant so Mobil 5-30 Semi sinthetic and oil filter was done and the air filter and cabin filter i do every 6 months myself later

So we went for the bigger service that they do for 3300 baht and that includes ac cleaner engine flush a can of moly slip and engine oil and filter .takes min 1 hour

Ok go ahead -finished that job and came back with a car battery condition test --It needs a new battery

Oh -Ok change it for a yuosa The old battery was 2.5 years old Total bill was 6281 baht

Back to MG the next morning and another new battery was fitted to the truck along with a list of other parts in the service

The MG bill was10734 baht including new battery no labour charge except battery fiiting at 180 baht They discounted the battery down to 3800 baht and gave us 10% discount on the parts

The service book was stamped up at 2601 kilo first service and the next service is 25000 kilos or 1 year .. That will not happen

I must say the customer service was a 10 with good comunication and everthing done including explaining everthing before going ahead with the work

So well done MG Lamphun

SO that was 2 new batteries purchased inside 24 hours --Bugger

Today- probably this afternoon I am taking my wife out for the first time to let her drive the manual truck on the very quiet roads where we are living just now .

She has never started it let alone drive it

She did origionally pass her test in the uk over 20 years ago in a manual gearbox but she only ever drove small cars like a fiat panda honda civic nissan note ete

I will be quite happy if she can drive on the bigger wider roads with confidence but the small narrow roads in the village of Lamphun and some parts of Chiang Mai are a no no for her

She finds the truck huge and asks why its so high up can you not get a smaller truck?/// OMG!

Sorry about being a bit long winded but it is a disscussion motoring forum is it not.

The verdict will be tomorrow - If she is happy to drive it now and then and knows how to start it and keep safe and use occasionaly we will keep the truck

If she is not happy and cannot drive it well it will reluctantly be put up for sale

Thanks everbody

285k .. It's crazy and many tents are closing down because they can't sell their stock of cars.

In my opinion this is because they opened the doors for cheap Chinese EV cars. I have heard that Honda is closing some of their factories here, Nissan too I believe. People are loosing jobs.

285k is crazy, it is insured for 600k.... Maybe it should accidently catch on fire.

My wife drove the truck yesterday on the backroad near the village for the first time

Call it a test drive

She decided it was to big for her to drive into lamphun town and Chiang Mai and prefers her small automatic car

So the decision was made that there was no point in keeping it and I have put it up for sale at a fixed price of 420 k on Baht Sold —this afternoon

Thanks everybody for the interaction
