Microsoft Teams and SKYPE

Featured Replies

Ever since MS took over SKYPE I hadn't really looked at MS TEAMS at all...until yesterday. I was actually looking for a international phone call on TEAMS but I found something else. I found that Skype is available (chat etc.) now within TEAMS. All of my previous conversations on Skype were there in the Skype window. I then wondered if the international call pad was there too. It is! Yesterday I was able to reactivate my previous Skype credit surplus and called the UK via Skype keypad app. A 20 minute call used just under half a Euro.

This part of the Skype call window.

However, one does have to go to the TEAMS/Skype setup process and then choose what online account to use for Skype...I chose my MS account. The dial pad appears in the Skype settings which will open a new online 'Skype' tab, enter account details and that's it. After this, I found it only necessary to go the dial pad website and make a call.

I just tried login with my skype name and then select the password option

and Voilà

Yes, I have to admit that if MS was going to keep Skype alive why not keep it as separate app. My guess is that they thought Skype customers would transfer to TEAMS but that didn't happen. So, they regurgitated Skype on the TEAMS platform. Another point is that I am not aware that MS publicised Skypes reappearance and the procedure to reconnect.

Well somehow you must have missed it as I always thought it was very clear how to reconnect - either via Teams or with the right web sign in from a certain date.

It was notified in more than one email from MSN and discussed in one or more of the many Skype replacement threads in Computers and or mobile sub forums. Not really sure why you posted this in the AV sub forum.......

Unfortunately I have now used up all but a few pennies of my previous credit so have moved to Localphone to call UK landlines.

I was never notified by MS and second, I did try to find if there where already threads on this but serches came up zero. Obviously others on this thread also did not know.
