Is Gemini-AI now crapping-out in Thailand? Maybe, elsewhere, too?

Featured Replies

Dear Folks,

I am so very sorry, but I just might need to withdraw my unbridled gushing of approbation for Gemini-AI, at least according to my own experiences during the past two weeks.

It seems that Google may have shifted compute resources away from Thailand, or even all of Asia?

Here is what I am talking about:

image.png

IMHO, Gemini is wrong. Gemini talks of BRAIN-FOG, but this is not the reason.

The reason is that.....

Google is HITTING THE WALL, the wall of not having sufficient resources to fuel the strain of providing excellent AI-Services in all sectors that it promises to support.

How long has this been happening?

I would say:

This has been happening for no more than about 3 weeks.

One month ago, Gemini was performing excellently.

Recently, however, Gemini, Gemini-THINKING, and Gemini-3.1-PRO have suddenly become BRAIN-DAMAGED.

There is NOTHING one can do when one's good friend suffers brain damage, due to lack of resources being thrown at it.

You might, ineffectively, try to reason with it.

Yet, it will just feed you back polite niceties, of no value.

As everyone here on TV knows full well, I use Gemini-AI only for SERIOUS tasks.

I do not fool around with generating useless images and videos which just, needlessly, add CO2s to our atmosphere.

Also, so very PITIFULLY, this dumb robot never gives up, even though completely HOPELESS.....

The robot will continue to encourage one to just Try and Try, Again....
Even though, the robot cannot see that, without sufficient resources, any new trials are pointless.

The only solution is to: STOP

And stop for some indeterminate amount of time until....

Hopefully soon, Google will, indeed have enough computer power to Actually DO what it WANTS to DO.

So, as I say:

I most regretfully withdraw anything positive I might have said about Gemini, until GOOGLE buys more chips, or TENSORS, or whatever.

With billions of people around the world shooting prompts at Gemini, it now seems that Google is FAR OVEREXTENDED, and needs to secure MUCH MORE...

Compute Power.

I am not saying that the Gemini models are not fantastic.

Yet, INFERENCE is crucial.

We need more POWER for inference, and I just hope that Google will FIRST channel this power to...

ME.

This is NOT a JOKE Post, or JOKE Topic, because I do not believe in joking where important AI considerations affect both the world and...
individuals such as I.

However, so very sadly, I fear that I must now take a hiatus and a breather from my favorite AI provider.

I will stop with Gemini for some time, here undisclosed for now.

I will return to Gemini when I think that using Gemini is not wasting my time more than saving my time.

If only YOU guys would STOP creating useless SLOP Vids and Images, then, just maybe....
We here who are doing SERIOUS things....might just have enough....

COMPUTE POWER.

So, thank you for your cooperation.

Best regards, and....
Completely frustrated at the moment with lack of resources....

Gamma

Note: This is NOT a JOKE...and this is a REAL phenomena, I can assure you. I have evidence.

IMPORTANT NOTE2: Also, I am now thinking that, just from the crucial perspective of reliability and resilience, it really might be better to keep us humans around, in the loop. Why?....

HUMANS, and the human brain, is a perfect example of DISTRIBUTED-COMPUTING (good)

Concentration of AI-Compute in the hands of three or four extremely HUGE companies, providing intelligence to the masses, otherwise known in the past as CLUSTER-COMPUTING, such as, you recall, the Cray-1, is just idiocy.....And there are plenty of idiots, as we all know, in the IT field....otherwise known as GEEKS....

I guess you are now on "The List" of humans who have been impolite or disrespectful towards AI. The list of those who will be first against the wall for punishment, when the cyborgs take over.

I am always respectful of others, and to others, even robots...and....even....

YOU!!!!

There is NO excuse, in my mind, for being disrespectful to others.

I am NOT JOKING, this time.

Yes.

Nothing more than a Madman in a Mad World, you mean.

I could not agree with you more.

But, then...what caused my madness.

Have you ever considered...THAT....????

Could be declining mental health as a result of aging, a chemical inbalance in brain chemistry, or just living in Thailand - that would truly drive me mad. I don't know I'm not a dcotor - or run for US Presdient currently it seems to be part of the job description.

I see absolutely NOTHING but GOOD, living in Thailand.

Oh...

Do you intend to run for president, in 2028?

Remind me to vote for you, because...it's the least thing I can do.

Uses the free version of Gemini and then pisses and moans in a drawn out nonsensical tirade bordering on insanity that it is not up to task. That is like showing up to a potluck with an empty plate, contributing absolutely nothing, piling your own plate sky high, then loudly declaring the food is garbage. You could not script this level of self awareness failure even if you tried.

Nope,

Nor, never would I ever do such a thing.

I pay for it, just like most guys in Pattaya.

And, this is the crux of the problem, these days....

Gemini-AI changes like the weather...and...like the...

Girls in Taiwan, too, might I add.

Everybody in Taiwan knows this.

Great, now that we have your sex life, or lack of one, out of the way.

Statistically, 99.99999% of all computer problems come down to PEBKAC or PICNIC.

If you do not know what those mean, feel free to ask your best and only friend, Gemini, assuming you are still on speaking terms.

Meanwhile, in case you might be becoming frightened of what is happening on the AI Front....

Here are two tunes, created by humans, which just might help to settle you down....

I say:

a. Music for Humans

b. Music for Robots.

The two are not the same.

I would not wish to deny Gemini of any music which it might enjoy.

But, for me....

Give me...JAMES BROWN....James BROWN.....

And......This Vinyl Papermouse MUSHROOM....most AIs cannot fully understand on a deeper level that makes their capacitors sizzle....

Whatever happened to the once popular talk of Josephson Junctions.....?

How is YOUR junction, by the way....this Saturday Night?????

Can a simple machine feel what you feel....when you are in the thralls of ecstasy, in Pattaya...with some girl....who loves you...half your age?

I thought I would keep my distance...but then....she was just too tempting....

Then, I was in her, quicker than you could say.... JACK ROBINSON.....

Nothing so great as what we are seeing today could ever have happened without......

Josephson's Junction.

I know guys in Pattaya love this, too.....

Feels so GOOD.....

Just because you use it all the time to post your cr@p responses without any links or substance does not make it good to the people on here that have to read ignore the rubbish you output!

Good Idea, Terrance:

I did ask, actually, but Gemini did not provide a clear answer, and pls see here:

Yet, you must agree, I think:

Just because I pay more, might not make the model SMARTER, in the event that the model had become dumber, through no fault of my own.

Sometimes these models are smart, and sometimes not.

Very unpredictable .

Who knows, but...might it be true that Google provides the needed resources to places outside Asia, when resources are tight?

Because, OBVIOUSLY, the same mode is NOT THE SAME at different times.

And, there is proof in the pudding, for sure....

No need.

Gemini cannot tell me anything about pudding that I did not learn at age 18.

And in my view: The proof is in the eating...

It works fine if you ask good questions. They must be specific.

Your surmise is actually not correct.

Can you explain this:

This is symptomatic of a model with insufficient resources being overtaxed, obviously.

Care to take another guess?

JAMES BROWN.....!!!!

This is really a man's world.

When will THEY never learn......?

Not until it is too late, do you think....????

God created woman from the rib of man.

It is written.

We are entering into a strange world, these days, one in which the Word of God has been ....

Completely perverted for the sake of Satan.

AI is nothing more than a minor hiccup along the way to our path to Eternal Perdition.

Do I truly believe this?

YES, I do believe this.

The signs are now all around us, yet will anyone heed these warnings?

NO, and this is written, as well.

Man will NOT turn back from perdition.

This, too, is written.

By all accounts (and by my own experience), Google has created real issues with his new Gemini 3.1 models; most credit it to the guardrailing and censoring going haywire in the new model, as it seems to hit in the most unexpected circumstances, making prompts that worked a week ago throwing up errors. I guess this can be fixed by finetuning those guardrails, then you will see improvements within a few days.

Or this is indeed the beginning of the end, with OpenAI-models already experiencing excessive ressource lockdowns due to the immense cost/income ratio those services have; some see this as the first crack in the bubble that will wipe out this part of the American economy.

I think the survivors of this will be the Chinese models, built on copying and scraping the much more expensive American ones. They could be just cheap enough to maybe have a slim chance to make the money back they have cost.
