Scanning on Linux Desktop: The ZANE of my existence?

Featured Replies

Dear Folks,

I am NOT JOKING this time.

So, anyway, it has been about 10 years since I have tried to use Linux Desktop for scanning purposes.

Years ago, setting it up for scanning using a Canon 220 flatbed was not easy to get right.

But, since I have now FINALLY.....EFFING.....HAD IT....up to HERE with both Windows and with Canon.....

These days, I MUST now opt for a total free and community supported solution, which is what I am doing.

Of course, I would love to use VueScan, but, I have not the money to pay for this....because I do not scan enough to justify the high cost.

So, let me say: Things always get better, over time. And, using Leap 16, and SANE (a state which I know nothing about personally, being in-SANE...)

What I have done, now, quite successfully, is to just BIN the EFFING lousy Windows laptop.

I will not go....ONE-HUNDRED percent with my Linux BOXES.......

I will still keep my Windows 2015 Laptop for laughs, but I will not use it...for anything now that I have solved my Linux scanning need.

====================

Why did the idiots at Canon not easily port their scanning software to Linux, LONG AGO....?

Do you know???

In conclusion: I will be unable to pay money to VueScan.

Effing Windows, I will not use.

I must have a totally Linux solution, or.....

I will not use my Canon scanners. and let them rot.

How much money does corporate American, or American corporations think they can extract from me?

My guess is far less than they might optimistically estimate.

FAR LESS....

Just buy a cheap printer/scanner that is supported - Brother for example...........

Thank you for this suggestion.

I have never used Gimp for scanning.

But, I will try it.

I began using Gimp a very long time ago, yet really did not need it, since I don't care much about image processing.
