So, Trump's plan was to ultimately declare that he was very concerned about Iran's quarrel with Israel and wanted to act as a peacemaker.

However, something went wrong. Instead of useful idiots, the military somehow seized de facto power in Iran. Perhaps because someone killed all the useful idiots, along with Khamenei. And for some reason, the military doesn't want to pretend that Trump is a peacemaker and isn't involved in the war at all.
