As the cost of oil continues to soar, the Treasury Department on Friday lifted sanctions on 140 million barrels of Iranian crude already loaded onto vessels, which the Trump administration says will help ease prices — but which is also likely to provide revenue for Iran’s war effort.

The order to “unsanction” the oil comes as President Donald Trump’s war in Iran has triggered a global energy crunch, with the price of oil soaring more than 50 percent since the U.S. attacked Iran late last month.

“Today, the Department of the Treasury is issuing a narrowly tailored, short-term authorization permitting the sale of Iranian oil currently stranded at sea,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent wrote Friday night on X. “By temporarily unlocking this existing supply for the world, the United States will quickly bring approximately 140 million barrels of oil to global markets, expanding the amount of worldwide energy and helping to relieve the temporary pressures on supply caused by Iran.”

I don’t think the Iranians are going to allow him to taco 🌮 they are fanatics and many want to die …..one way out is a solid convoy system.perhaps the world should insist on Donald’s removal before they try to help fix the mess he started.certainly makes sense to me why leave him in to create another problem next week?

In order to get more oil flowing and try to slow down the skyrocketing price of crude, the Trump administration has announced it will be granting sanctions relief to Iranian oil already pumped and being transported at sea – relief that is projected to be worth a stunning $14 billion.

To put it another way: Trump is paying Iran to fight the war that he started against him.

This is a huge strategic defeat for Trump and a personal humiliation, as he spent the past 10 years incessantly lying about how President Obama gave $1.4 billion to Iran when in reality it was Iranian money that the US had stolen and had been court-ordered to return.

Now Trump himself is giving them ten times that amount, which will likely be spent on more missiles to fire at US planes, ships, and bases, and will only temporarily lessen the pressure of high oil prices, as the war has now devolved into both sides attacking each other’s oil infrastructure after the Israelis began bombing Iran’s oil fields.

Apart from the ludicrous contradictions inherent in this move.......analysts on the TV today say it will have zero impact on prices.........even if Trump said today....we're done (assuming Netanyahu lets him)......they say we are looking at elevated oil prices for at least six months.

On top of that, price gouging generally on all goods will abound, and once elevated they are unlikely to go back down.

But what the hell.....it's only the poor that get shafted, so who cares.

The Dark Humor in all of this is that Trump has contradicted his stance on ev's and all things electric by massively boosting interest in the alternative market to ice vehicles. Couple that with domestic solar installs .

A boost to markets China will be smiling about.
