I'll let Haaland speak for himself: "I lived in England for 3½ or four years. I lived in Norway for such a long time, so it was natural for me to choose Norway. Maybe if my father had played longer in England or whatever, maybe I would be English -- I don't know".

No, like the rest of +/-56m English, Harland is not 'ethnically' English because, as I explained, it is a phrase which is effectively meaningless in the modern day. It is being used in this forum by @JonnyF simply as a way to try and justify his racism.

You call my use of the phrase "pure blood" to define 'ethnic English' "bizarre": Why? How else would you define the phrase then?

What's the criteria for being considered English? Length of heritage? Both of Jude Bellingham's parents were born in England as was he. Harry Kane was born in England but his parents were born in Ireland. Are neither 'English'? Is Bellingham, 'English' and Kane, not? Does that make Bellingham 'more' English than Kane? If so, that's going to cause some people to choke on their cornflakes.

I've only seen that phrase used in vampire movies. It's a strange phrase to use, probably some weird leftist thing to say along with St George being Turkish in some strange attempt to diminish the English.

So I presume that in your world no-one is ethnically from anywhere then? There are no ethnic Nigerians, Japanese, Chinese, Argentinians etc? Since no country on the planet will (in your bonkers words) be 100% pure bloods then you must think that every country is basically made up of mongrels, and no-one on the planet can claim a heritage from any country?

Jude Bellingham has mixed parents. His mother is Jamaican, has father is white British. The term is mixed race (not half blood or some other ridiculous term you want to use). He is part Jamaican and part English. Do you deny him his Jamaican heritage? Do you deny his mother her Jamaican heritage? Why would you do that? Is it because you see it as a lesser heritage in your mind and he should be allowed the "superior" English one. That does come across as racist actually.

"Vampires". "Weird lefty thing". "Turkish St. George". Listen to yourself. Incoherent nonsense.

I don't believe that the ethnic English exist, therefore I don't believe that ethnicity exists anywhere in the world. Do I really need to highlight the logical fallacy at work there?

I'm not trying to deny anyone anything. The reverse is true. If Jude Bellingham wants to identify as both English and Jamaican, good luck to him. It's you and Jonny who would deny him his right to identify how he wants by citing this ridiculous notion that the ethnic English exist in 21st century England.

As I have said to Jonny on numerous occasions, I may be many things but racist is not one of them. Can you say the same?

Jude Bellingham's mother has Afro- Jamaican ancestry, Kenya, I believe.

His father was born in Southend but he has Irish ancestry.

Oh, you're suddenly a fan of meritocracy? 😄

So you wouldn't support DEI in the context of the French national team to ensure the makeup of the team reflected that of French society, rather than simply picking the best players? You're normally a huge supporter of DEI. I wonder what changed in this case? 😄

DEI means anti white. It NEVER means to favor white people when they got displaced by the usual suspects. Funny dat🤣

Which French white players got replaced by inferior black players due to "DE&I"? Can you name them?

I support the increasing representation of black players in French sports. Embracing diversity enriches our communities and creates a brighter future for everyone.

Exactly.

That's why they are pretending not to understand my question - Why is DEI not being used to ensure white people are proportionally represented in the French national team? The answer of course is because DEI/equity only works in one direction and hence exposes their racist anti-white/anti-western agenda.

DEI means anti-white. Anti-Racist means anti-white.

Your attempts at ethnic erasure have long been noted Raymond.

Racist Ray never fails to try to eradicate English ethnicity. 😄

Back in reality, Ethnically English refers strictly to the ancestral gene pool, historical lineage, and native indigenous-indigenous blend unique to the land of England. It is entirely separate from holding a British passport or living in the UK.

Black immigrants are no more ethnically English than settlers in New Zealand are Maori? Try telling a Maori dude in NZ that Jeff the farang from up the road is Maori because his parents and him were born in NZ. You'd get snapped in half.

Do you deny the existence of other ethnicities as well? Do you claim there is no such thing as Yamato (Japanese)? Maori? Basque? Han? Do you wish to erase these as well or is your hatred reserved for the ethnically English?

I don't think it's possible to spend too much time "fretting" about racism, Higgot.

Great game last night BTW. Great performance by the Spanish. Rodri in particular. Like me, a good honest Manchester lad. Blueeeee Mooooonnnnnnn.

A very good description of a white supremacists view of an ethnicity that doesn’t exists and hasn’t existed since the tenth century.

England is a nation of immigrants, and has been since its foundation on the previous nations of immigrants.

England had only just begun to emerge as a nation when the French took over, and the descendants of those conquerors still hold much of England's wealth and power through unbroken lines of descent.

I cant answer that with specific names. But I can answer it with logic,.

One thing I noticed is that most teams have 1 or 2 superstars, and maybe 1 or 2 more fairly talented players (at most). Not even that much, usually. 4 really great players on a team is rare.

The rest of the team are basically made up of non descript talentless clones that can easily be replaced. Watch them carefully and you will see they can barely do anything that would resemble remarkable talent. All they do is make simple passes mostly.

I wonder if France is deliberately sending some sort of political message with an all-black team. Seriously, I'm sure there's 1000 white guys in France who can replace the mediocre black dudes on that team. The only reason France won any games is Mbappe and the other guy who also scored quite a few goals. The rest are all replaceable.

It is also possible that a much larger percentage of black guys are playing in little leagues and moving up the ranks and white french guys are simply not interested in football. But with previous superstars like Platini and great teams for so many years, what other sports do they have?

The favourites to win the World Cup are in the words of some guy in the Internet ‘mediocre’.

France has 2 great goal scorers - who are not replaceable. But if you get rid of these guys, the team is nothing. They are just as crappy as Saudi Arabia.

England also has 2 great goal scorers, which is why they also have a good chance to win.

Not sure about the rest of the team as most of us focus our attention on the superstars.

But next time you watch a match, keep an eye on all the other players and you will notice that they do not have any skills which are remarkable. They can barely out-dribble anyone and just resort to simple passes.

One reason Brazil won a lot is because a lot of players were highly skilled and were great playmakers. But that's rare. I doubt any teams in this world cup have that. Maybe Spain? Haven't seen Spain play yet.

But yeah, my argument is that 90% of players in the World Cup are replaceable talentless drones.

Who is "they"?

Without the superstars, these teams cannot win a match.

Get rid of Messi and Argentina sucks.

Get rid of Haaland and Norway sucks.

Very few teams in history had a bunch of great players.

Some Brazilian teams in the past were fun to watch because most of the players were highly skilled playmakers and they were moving the ball around like a pinball machine.

Now, most players are mediocre and talentless.

They just get the ball to the superstar and the superstar does all the fancy moves and scores.

He’s not yet figured out teams are made of of players, each with their own role to play.

There’s a clue in the term ‘team’.

You're omitting the role of midfielders, defenders and the goalkeepers who are just as important as strikers.

Good to see the crowds these days acknowledging great tackling, regaining possession of the ball. Back in the 60s I don't remember the crowds at Hull doing that, lol.

Plus there is the group/ team ability. The knowledge of each others' game so passes are instinctive, team movement is fluid.

For some reason last night France seemed to have lost that, passes going needlessly astray.

18 minutes ago, bannork said:

We were talking about the France team and my point is that half the team can easily be replaced by white guys and it wouldn't make much difference. Obviously, not Mbappe and Dembele.

Not sure who else as there is no time to scrutinize every player carefully. We are all mostly fixated on the strikers when we watch these matches.

"Just as important" implies just as talented. I think most people are deluded about how many talentless and easily replaceable players are playing in the World Cup.

For strikers, we keep track of stats to see who are the best ones. Goals, passes. For defenders, can you actually tell me which defender in the world cup has the most tackles? I guess some defenders are highly talented, but I can't name any.

Lucky for you I will surrender and stop arguing this point any further.
