I've tried to find some information on what events are planned in Bangkok but have been unsuccessful. Does anybody have any links or information on what will be happening to celebrate the Monarch’s 80th on and around his birthday?

Yes I saw that one but unless I am missing something it doesn't show what events are specific to the birthday celebrations.

Edit - it does list the firework displays but nearly everything else is of a very formal nature and I wondered if there were more things arranged to amuse the masses.

Trooping of the Colors happens every year. I have looked at the list of events on this site and I had hoped that there would be more things happening around Bangkok than those listed. Has anyone else heard of anything else?
