I was beginning to think that you Isaanites knew everything that was going on all the time... The whole "sufficiency" issue seems to have taken on a life of its own. Would be interesting to see what version/spin this gathering is proposing.
September 7, 200718 yr I have had a busy week and only managed to get to it late yesterday afternoon. And then I couldn't get much of an idea of it, because everything was in Thai. It is being held in the huge Convocation Hall of the University. (The building by the road to the airport, that is as big as, and looks a little like, Sydney Opera House.) It has clearly been very competently organised. They are bussing in hundreds and hundreds of secondary pupils and junior college students from all over the province, and marshalling them in to see stage and film presentations class by class. I was very impressed by the excellent behaviour. One long corridor was lined with display boards that clearly had handwritten 'brainstorming' suggestions on them, and they were all different. I would be interested in how they organised the logistics of that for so many groups. Had one chuckle. Downstairs there was about an acre of trade stalls selling all the OTOP stuff, but right in the middle Isuzu had an MU-7 gas guzzler on show. Insufficiency personified! The few Uni staff that I have mentioned to whom I have mentioned the Sufficiency Fair and big panjundrums coming from the capital have given a wry smile and said words to the effect that Bangkok should be getting the beam out of its own eye before pointing to the splinter in the Isaan eye. But didn't Oscar Wilde point out that, unless the poor set an example to the rich, there was no point in having the poor?
