Veggie At Jungceylon?

Featured Replies

Driving over the hill from Karon to Patong one can see a couple of signs up declaring "The most delicious vegetarian food now at Jungceylon" (or something like that). But there is no name for the place, no phone number, no other indication for a potential diner to find it! I went way over to Patong to try to see if I could spot it at the food court, but didn't have any luck at all.

Does anybody here have a clue?

Hi all,

I am not clueless for once...... :o

It is in the food court downstairs. The font used for all the eating placesin the food courte is hopeless and impossible to read!

The veggie place, name still unknown to me, is almost in the far corner next to the indian place. It is avery cheap too. However I have tried it a few times and not been super impressed, but they have premade dishes and a menu as well. Good variety. A bit heavy for some reason and I can't quite figure out what it is. The Indian place next to it has some veggie dishes too. Both are worth a try for a cheap eat. (buyyour coupons at the counter).

Please let me know what you think.........

I had no idea there was a food court in Jungceylon...?? I too looked for that Veggie food place at least a couple of times. Exactly where is the access stairway.

Er, it's that large if not huge set of steps, right in the middle of the forecourt in the front of the building. If you miss that set there are at least four more sets strategically placed throughout Junceylon.

And its freezing down there. All the food court staff have on jumpers. And there are lots of mosquitos too. Seriously, bring long sleaves at the least.

Does anyone know did Fuji open up yet? The Sushi at the one in Central is decent and less touristy then Zen in Patong.

Thanks for that MisterMan. Next time I get over there I'll try again to find it.

You weren't the only one. I've been in there at least 40 times and never saw it. Maybe it's a good thing. I have a tough enough time not buying something from the DQ on the way to carrrefour.

Mfiskong have you tried the veggie places in town yet? Very good and great value too

I've been to the one on Bangkok road near the tiny little Chinese temple (almost at the traffic circle) and liked it a lot, but it's sort of out of the way for me and I can rarely combine it with other things to do there, now that I've let my membership at Club Asia expire...

There's one in Chalong, but I can never figure out what the food is (I really don't like that sour stuff the Thais love so much and I've got it a few times from there), so while it's convenient, I have stopped going there.

The Pie Lady has some veggie pies that are nice for a change. And there's a place in Patong just after you come down from Patong hill, but it's also not on my path most of the time...

I usually end up with Indian or Thai, which is great, but I like to get some gluten-based food sometimes :-)

After a determined search at lunchtime I did find the food court Food haven. It's actually quite well sign posted these day, but it's a long walk from Carrefor over to next building, down the steps and pass through al these tourist trap vendors (that's why last time I looked I gave up).

Certainly not well placed for passing trade. Hardly any customers (was lunch time) and a very poor selection of food. Singha beer 70 baht :o , no thanks. Ended up eating at the new KFC.

Of course the Indian places are also good for veggie food. But on the whole I always lose weight because of lack of veggie food. After a while pad Thai etc just isn't appealing any more. Sizzelers is pretty good for salads etc

Did someone mention a vegetarian place in Chalong? I have eaten at Chalong many times but never noticed this place. If anyone knows the name or exact location it would be much appreciated.

I have noticed a sign on the Cho fa west rd advertising a Veggie resturant / guesthouse off to the left if heading towards central.

Never stopped so cant say for sure.

That must be Shanti Lodge. Yeah, they do have some veggie options, but it's not a fully dedicated veggie place.

The Veg restaraunt in Chalong is just east of the circle on the way to Phuket Town.

It is almost opposite the Siam Commerical Bank and it is directly next to the Pharmacy.-- Right side if you are comming from the circe.

It has a yellow sign with Red writing, chinese style. By the way the guys working in the Pharmacy are brothers and studdied and lived in the US, perfect English... highly recomend the pharmacy there, family run too and very nice.

Thanks everyone, its great to have so many vegetarian suggestions. I am going to enjoy checking these out. I have tried a couple of veggie places in Phuket town. They are ok for lunch but not quite a Great Evening Out.

Natural in Phuket town has 2 pages of great vegetarian options! Its a bit hard to find but good prices and interesting decor..... they have a spicey fruit salad and stir friend eggplant, the purple kind amongst many other Thai dishes not usually found elsewhere!

Also Mama Noi aind Karon and Nai Harn have some great Eggplant Melazaine and other just veggie dishes and not expensieve.

You can get veggie food in the food court at Central as well. 30 Baht for as much as you can load on your plate. Delicious.
