Crazy problem. I would start with Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices, click the Sounds tab and then find the tab for openening window and change the sound to something else.

Not sure where I would go next though.

Good luck.

When I open a window on Pent 4 XP Windows PC a high pitched whistling sound starts, and it stops when I close the window/s.

Any suggestions on how to stop this?

Cheers

* If this only happens in Windows, try Linux.

* If you were referring to window, as in door, try air conditioning.

* Revert to good old DOS

Sorry, silly Sunday.

Obviously a poltergeist, destroy the machine immediately ...

Alternate options:

One, ... control panel, sound and devices, (re-enable "default" sound scheme),

Two, turn down gain on powered external speaker(s),

Three, roll back your present audio driver, then re-install or try other, :o
